GPL: Who are the Ferrari fans?....and other ponderings.

Well, for me there is no compromise :-) I've been (and still am) one of the Ferraristi, and not a Ferrari-fan. That's because the love for Ferrari is in my heart, and not in my head! So it can't go away :-) Bart
Hi all, Just interested in knowing if many of you drive the Ferrari exclusively like I do. Besides the absolutely gorgeous sound of that V12 sceaming, well.... it's a Ferrari :)) I've put in 50-75 laps at all the tracks (and many, many more at some) with it and feel I'm learning it's temperment in most cases. The depressing thing is that it seems outclassed by the Lotus and Eagle enough to have me wondering the feasibility of winning many races with it. Unless of course the sim models the fact that the Lotus and Eagle are somewhat prone to things breaking, then I can always hope to grind it out with the BT24s :) I'll be the first to admit, I haven't spent a vast amount of time in the garage setting it up. But the first 10 laps I did at Monza in the Lotus just for kicks, I ran a 1:30.25. My best time ever in the Ferrari is 1:32.21. And I've run alot of laps at Monza with it :) Something else on my mind lately...is Dave Kaemmer on performance enhancing chemicals? BTW, that's a joke. I've watched his replay of a hotlap at Spa. 3:20.34. Jeminy Christmas, I've run what I *thought* was flat out in Big Red and did 3.33.56. Back to the drawing board :) Besides the fact that Mr. Kaemmer is one hell of a good driver,(not too bad at doing sims either:)) this seems another example of being outdone by the Lotus. Hmm...green cars are beginning to look more appealing! One other thing. While I was crashing at Rouen the other day, I saw something that I couldn't figure out. At Scierie there is a row of those damned half sunk tires and a Pepsi sign. To the right of the Pespi sign there are two shady looking members of the crowd. The long haired guy on the right has a picture on his shirt that could either be the head of a Chow Chow dog or something else entirely, what, I don't know. I can't decide which :)) I won't be able to concentrate at this track until a consensus is met or someone a Papy gives the final word :) Have fun and go fast. Berry Kaiser
I was driving around in the Ferrari the other night, just getting used to the game (wihtout much success, yet!) My girlfriend came in the room to scream about the neighbors cars making soo much noise! Much to her suprise, it was a computer game. The Ferrari sound even made an impression on her and she just doesn't get it when I ramble on about the awesome sounds cars can make.

Well Ive made me a setup which has only a 1mph slower top speed than the Lotus at Monza... I've done a 1:32.98 in it with a joystick. So it must be a fast setup :) BTW: The fastest Ive done in the lotus is a 1:32.28. That's with Dave Mansells setup (slightly tweeked). Oh, and the first thing to do in a setup is lower the car, it makes the braking so much better (I gained 3 seconds at monaco simply by lowering the car :) Julian

And I've run alot of laps at Monza with it :) I have 1:32:32 as my best time on Monza in the Ferrari, but last night i tried the Eagle for a few laps, and improved by about a second. So I might try to switch from Scuderia Ferrari to another team soon. -Jan Otto

And I've run alot of laps at Monza with it :) Monza = Power. The Ferrari just can't quite cut it in that regard although you can go a fair bit quicker than 1:32. The Ferrari can at least beat your Lotus time of 1:30.2, as I was well into the 29s while trying it. The Ferrari can run sub 3:25s at Spa too. I've had Lotus down to the 3:20s and Ferrari down to 3:22, so there is a difference but not as big as you might think. Cheers! John
>days. Masta is fabulous. I can take it in fifth with only a feather of the >throttle going in. I think with a little practice and some setup fiddling >I could take it flat out. Right now I drop to around 8000-8500 in fifth. I think it would be difficult to take flat out, probably the car would understeer too much after crossing the crown. The slight lift pitches the weight slightly forward and helps the car turn in positively. At present I maintain 170mph+ all the way through the Masta Kink, and I think if that was a real car there's no way on earth I would do that. I visited Spa quite recently, but unfortunately Masta is totally remodelled so you can't really get a good impression of what it must have been like in those halcyon "good old days". The first turn is possible flat although in race trim I lift gently to get the front to bite and reduce the risk of running wide on the exit. For the second I brake smoothly right at the start of the skid marks, down to third (with Lotus, fourth with Ferrari) and take a little grass at the apex. Exit speed is really important bacause of the long uphill run right afterwards. Cheers! John

i'd rather be lapped repeatedly in the ferrari than break records in the lotus because...hey..., it's a ferrari!
