GPL bugs, etc.

Just a few glitches I've run into so far. Might be a good thread to start for bugs. 1. Setups: When I make changes to a current setup, try them without saving, then decide to go back, I'm can't access the previous arrangement by reloading it, as with ICR2, etc. Having the program remember the last setup is important, but if you have to save every small change as a unique setup, there'll be zillions of them. Also, the scroll bar on the differential ramp angle settings goes haywire, not responding to the mouse pointer properly over the up & down arrows. Haven't seen any mention of these. Am I having brain fade? Not THAT again. 2. Sound: Primarily, a lot of scratchy, static-like noise from the engine sounds. Also, when braking and downshifting, the sound sometimes drops out totally; engine, wind, everything - silence. It only happens intermittently and for an instant, but it's pretty disconcerting. I've unpacked the sound.dat and played the wavs outside the game in Noisemaster, and the engine sounds are the source of the static. This seems to be a common complaint. 3. Replays: Trying to view any replay at 1024x768 resolution locks up the PC, requiring a reboot. Ctrl/alt/del out of the game, & it won't let me restart GPL, saying "mutual exclusion prevents this", even though the app. doesn't show up as running. I can drive or race at this resolution, but not view replays. It works fine at 800x600 or lower. In addition, the driver position shown on the replays doesn't correspond to current track position. Does it only update once per lap? System info: P200mmx, 512kb cache, 32mb edo ram, Win95OSR2, DX 6 Ensoniq AudioPCI, latest CL SB 64PCI drivers Diamond Monster 3DII 8mb, latest drivers Glitches aside, kudos to Papy on the final product. Brilliant stuff. Steve B.

AFAIK, you can't run 1024x768 with an 8mb Voodoo2. You need a 12 megger.

Not so, it works fine when driving and racing at that resolution, just no for replays. The demo replays were fine at 1024x768. Steve B.

Not true! I have a 8 megger and it runs 1024x768! But the fps are better in lower res as I only have a 225MMX. Kari

> 2. Sound: Primarily, a lot of scratchy, static-like noise from the engine > sounds. I have the same problem with most recent certified SB AWE32 drivers. The sound quality is more annoying to me than fingernails dragged on a chalkboard, especially the Ferrari. Same issue, which is readily apparent after a spinout -- deathly silence. Check it out in arcade mode and you will notice the rpm drop to 0 instead of an idle rpm. Seems to be a glitch carried over from the demo. I've unpacked the sound.dat My System info: P233 mmx 64 MB RAM Win 95 DirectX 5.0a SB AWE32 DirectXDrivers: SB16.vxd Ver. 4.38.00.0014 (certified) NEC 16X CD ROM Any help for this would be most appreciated before I stomp the CD to smithereens. :-)
