GPL Cannot change cards

9 posts by 7 people · 03 Oct 1998 - 04 Oct 1998

I have two cards, a thriller and a voodoo2. I go into options(graphics) to change from rendition to 3dfx, exit the sim like it says but when I go back in the sim and look at options (graphics) Rendition is still selected. Ummm, would like to compare the two cards. When I installed the sim I selected Rendition. Thanks in advance fir any suggestions

I am having the same problem. I have a Packerd Bell (going soon but all I have for now) with the video card in the mb. I added a creative labs riva tnt card and I selected the 3dfx option on install. I select 3dfx in the game, exit, when I come back in, it says none. Is this a problem with the game or our cards?

I had a similar problem when I did not have the drivers properly installed for the monster2. Got the latest drivers from the 3Dfx site and when finally they were installed right, (with help from this group) problem vanished. Might help. Sam
I had the same problem. Re-install Glide; worked for me. Michael.

I have tried re-loading the vodoo2 drivers, exiting the sim per suggestion still no 3dfx. Urggggg.

A Riva TNT card is not a 3Dfx card, that is why the option will not work for you. Installing a video card based on Voodoo and Voodoo 2 chipsets are the only way you will be able to run 3Dfx enhanced programs. Chris

% I have tried re-loading the vodoo2 drivers, exiting the sim per suggestion % still no 3dfx. Urggggg. After you change the option in the program, look at the app.ini file in the GPL directory and make sure the following is set: [ Graphics ] lastRasterizerDLL = rast3dfx.dll ; Last rasterizer DLL selected If it still defaults to Rendition, you may have multiple Glide DLL's floating about on your system. The reference drivers will do a search of your system for duplicate or invalid drivers via the "Utility" option of the video properties. % > On Sat, 03 Oct 1998 18:04:37 -0700, rick sweeney % > % > >I have two cards, a thriller and a voodoo2. With your card - it ISN'T 3dfx, so therefore it won't work with a 3dfx game. The only 3dfx cards are Voodoo 1, Voodoo 2, and Banshee - your's is a Riva TNT, which does *Direct 3D*, but not *3dfx* (Glide). For GPL at least, you're going to need to get a Voodoo 1/2 card, which would work with the TNT or the built-in card, or replace the TNT with either a Banshee or a Hercules Thriller 3D (Rendition) Ken
