Isn't it amazing someone's actually posting about F1RS and
not F1RS2. But, getting back on track. When I'm playing
the game it is nearly impossible for me to turn right, I
can't even get around La Source at Spa without putting the
car in reverse. I don't know if it's the game or my
joystick(my joystick is a Longitech Wingman Extreme.) While
I'm on the topic of controllers does anyone know if the
NASCAR Sprint Wheel by TM is any good, because CompUSA is
selling it for $60.
You should probably try to set the deadzone to 0%. Microsoft
has set the deadzone to 5% in the DINPUT.DLL file that is used
by DirectX. You cannot change the deadzone from Windows
and would therefore need a small utility made by Andrey Grushin.
You can find this file at the following WEB page:
http://www.f1racingsim.com/download.htm
You find the file under the Patches option
Another thing you could try is to set the joystick sensitivity in
F1RS to 100% instead of the default 70%.
I would also try to recalibrate the joystick in Windows control
panel. Have you verified if you have chosen the correct option
for your joystick. E. g. is Logitech Wingman extreme defined
as a separate option or do you have to choose one of the generic
options. Why not try to check the Logitech WEB page for
info about how to set up the joystick under Windows 95/98.

Is it safe and does it work using the deadzone utility on the version
of DirectX that comes with Win98? What about DirectX 6? You know
what...maybe I'll just back it up and try it.

I just got CH Virtual Pilot Pro and CH Pro Pedals and I have the same
problem. It calibrates OK under Win95 (centers OK and moves evenly to
left/right edge). In F1RS it drives straight when centered, turns
left OK but turns only slightly to the right. You can also see that
the weels don't turn right as much as left. It doesn't bother that
much in Suzuka as it does not have that tight right turns but f.ex
there is one turn in Monaco that is impossible without reversing.
The yoke trim is centered and I have calibrated several times. I also
have the 109 patch. I tried taking the steering limiter (or whatever
it was called) and have adjusted the null zone to 0%. To me this
seems as F1RS problem. Anyone any ideas?
