Well everyone, it's been fun for the last few years dispensing info about how to save money and have more fun by building your own stuff, but like all good things, this too has to come to an end. I have moved on to a new provider that doesn't provide webspace (or at least not nearly enough to host this whole conglomeration of stuff), and more importantly, I just don't have enough time to mainain it anymore. I get e-mails that I cannot answer and I feel terrible. I wish there was more I could do, but I just don't have the time... If there is anyone out there who would be interested in mirroring my site and take over the maintenance, I would be willing to talk about it and see what we could work out. If not, then I will pull all of my files from the server by Oct. 15th. Thanks again for all the submissions to the Wally's World Photo Gallery. I learned that there are a LOT of creative people in the world and that I definitely was not alone in deciding to do things myself. That is the part of this I will miss the most-seeing what others have done and being able to publicize it in my own small way. taking over. If not, take care and keep on building 'em yourself! Thank You, Walt Ottenad

I would like to take this opportunity to publically thank you at this time. For every one person who sent you pictures of their wheel there were probably 5 who didn't have one of those special cameras but sent you an E-MAIL and another 10 who didn't take time to do either. Unfortunately I would have admit I am in the latter of those three groups. While I may not have saved much money with my DIY wheel b/c of tool and time costs I have learned a great deal about tools and workmanship while building my wheel, things I am really glad to know now. No price could be put on what I have learned and the satisfaction I obtained from making a wheel with my own two hands. My wheel is now complete. It has a great spring system, many pads throughout that give the wheel a fluid like motion, shifters on the wheel, an out board shifter, three pedals, a switch to go from 1 axis to 2 axis, and much more. I honestly wouldn't trade my wheel for an ECCI or Hyperstimulator, they simply could not be any better than mine. All of this was made possible by your generous help. If not for your plans, site picts, and E-MAIL assistance I could have not passed square one. I always enjoy what at times seems to be a rare occasion, that of meeting a person who desires to help others without any expectation of profit or return, as you have. Interacting with people such as yourself is truly a pleasure. I wish you the best of luck in future endeavors. Thank you very much. - Chris Dahms

Hmmm, well, if that is true its a great shame about Wallys World having to close down, its one of the most interesting sites on the WEB!! I wish I had the time to run it (its a massive site), go look see. http://www.oz.net/~wottenad/wheel2.htm I am a bit suspect about the post address on the original message! I hope this is not someones idea of a skam? Come on all you WEBexperts/simm fanatics, there must be someone out there who has the time, energy and web space to save this 'mega-site' from oblivion! I completed my wheel and pedals (built largely from your sites guide) yesterday. Although I'm terrible with them at the moment, they work fine.. Thanks for saving me (and many others) xxx's and for the satistfaction of completing a great DIY project. So long to one of the web's most useful and interesting sites... :-( -- Mike Wallace [Member of the Worlds Greatest GP2 Hotlap League]

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the offers of help on this site... As a couple folks suggested, it really is a massive site-right now I'm sitting about 11.5 MB, of which maybe one MB is personal. I have received a couple offers of hosting so far, and I truly appreciate them, but there is just too much stuff here to cut up and split between numerous servers. If anyone knows of a free site that's semi-fast (NOT Fortunecity.com, thank you), I would consider uploading the whole thing. Any suggestions? Wally PS: Thanks for the kind words as well. I have had just as much or more fun guiding hundreds of people through their projects as they have had building them, and have made many friends that I wish I could meet in person. I think we have all found out together that money is not what the web's all about, it's about friends and helping others in a mutual interest...

We'll miss ya. Hopefully you'll find more time to spend with your boys now and the four of you can open an Almond Roca factory instead. cheers, -Ferdinand-

Wally, Have you considered trying BlueHill Communications, a.k.a. BHCom.com (www.bhcom.com)? They're a Web space provider, and you can get 10 MB of space with a virtual domain name from them for as little as $99 per year (you still need a local ISP, though). These are the folks who host my IRL Insider Magazine site, and I highly recommend them. Anybody interested in taking up a collection to help purchase a virtual domain name for Wally's World??? Ten people with $10 each can sign up to sponsor Wally's World on BHCom.com for one year . . . Just my $0.02. -- John Bodin Publisher, The IRL Insider Magazine On-Line http://irlinsider.adnetweb.com/ Visit our sim site at: http://irlinsider.adnetweb.com/simsite/

Okay, so Marc and I are willing to help keep Wally's World alive -- do we have 8 other folks willing to spend $10 each to keep this great Web-based institution alive? I'm serious here, folks -- if Wally's World has been of help to you, now's the time to return the favor. -- JB

This is great, and I'm sure Walter appreciates everyone's comments and entusiasm in keeping his site alive! However, Walter has been offered enough space to park his pages for as long as he needs, and it looks as though he's interested. As soon as the details are worked-through, I'm sure he'll post a message here on r.a.s. =) Cheers!
