Disappointment with Act Labs Performance pedals

Shock was unhappy with his new Act Labs Performance pedals and planned to return them for TSW pedals. Others pointed out the price difference and suggested ECCI and Redline pedals, and Nigel Nichols of Redline explained pricing and USB adapter options. Goy Larsen again stressed that a quality brake pedal makes the biggest difference.

I don't like these pedals at all. I just got them in the mail and I ran several laps with them. Something just isn't right about the feel of them. I am going to return them asap and order the TSW universal pedals to go with my Logitech Momo. What a mistake I made. Shock

So what you are saying is: The 69.00 pedals are not as good as the several hundred dollar pedals? Imagine that! "Shock" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... Good point, I guess I was just majorly frustrated when I made the post. I expected a little better than what I got, but they have a great return policy. I'd just get the two pedal setup. Clutch is junk anyway unless your game supports it linearly rather than on/off. Shock "Tiny Lund" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > 185 to get the one with clutch? Not a bad price. Still 3 times the ActLabs

Hey Nigel, Not your fault. If you have that kind of money to spend on a set of pedals, you won't be let down, I keep saying time and time again that people who haven't tried a pedal set like these, or ECCI's pedals or BRD's Speed7 pedals don't know what they are missing, it's the brake pedal man, it's the brake pedal, the clutch is a bonus and I can live without the smooth action of the throttle pedal, but the brake pedal......once you've tried it it's impossible to go back to regular "positional" pedal It all depends on how "serious" you are of course, for the "casual" gamer the expenditure would hardly be worth it, mine is now 4 years old and have served me well and I can easily see them lasting another 4 years without breaking a sweat, 320 usd spread over 8 years.....I can live with that :D Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "goyl at nettx dot no" http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--

I like NR so these is not much need for braking beyond a simple drag to bleed some speed (traffic), but at the few tracks with real braking I suck badly compared to all other tracks and I have never liked my ability to get the exact braking power I want consistently. 320us is about right Shock. Sadly the present weaker US dollar is hurting me for selling the Redline unit to the US. I was competitive before the dollar weakened. Thats life I guess. Thanks Nigel! What sort of resolution does this converter give on the axes? Other gameport/USB converters give a very stepped output (something like 128 steps on each axis, best I've heard of is the Actlabs USB adapter that gives 256 steps (8bit)). If it uses a 10bit (1024 step) converter or better then it would be ideal for those looking to switch from gameport to USB. Ken

I also heard that Gamecards could be a problem. Easy solution if it works Eldred. "Shock" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... I think TSW highly recommends using the box with winxp or win2000. Something about spikes. Shock "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

To be honest Ken I don't know what resolution the Rockfire gives. However all Redline units I sell that are to be used through the Rockfire adapter must have 250k pots fitted rather than he 100k's I use for gameport units. The 250k's offer the smooth control. Bear in mind this is for the pedal unit which is not as critical to have high resolution as it is for the steering.
