NFS3 dashboards--12mb v2 required?

I read at www.needforspeed.com that in order to get dashboards in NFS3 in 3d mode you will NEED a 12mb voodoo2 card or agp. Does this leave those of us with voodoo 1 cards in the cold? This one kinda snuck up on me. true. but remember how 3Dfx accelerator owners were screwed out of dashboards completely in NFS2SE. i love my $320 Voodoo 2 12mb card, and hate to say it, but i'm glad there are some extra 'benefits' to owning it besides the fast graphics. ;)- and where exactly was this "touted" anyways? -jch

Actually, I played nfs2se in software mode once in a while to get the dashboards (it's almost like a second game). And the dashboards are "touted" in all the magazine ads for the game, as well as on the web site, and until last week there was no mention of a requirement for a 12mb voodoo 2. There is some more news about this very subject that was just posted on voodooextreme.com It seems some of us without a Voodoo2 card (12mb) or some kind of fast AGP-based card will be out of luck. I think that your Riva card will be alright, but you then can only use the Riva card by itself and not in conjunction with the 3dfx card.(???) Check the voodooextreme site for more info. F1Filter

I am doing a review of NFS3 for Digital Sportspage and I have a Riva as well as a Voodoo I working side by side. They both work fine, but ***pits are of course only available running on the Riva. Randy Randy Magruder [link lost in import]

Voodoo 1 and V2 8 MBs will not get dashboards. I could be wrong though.

Ok, I'm running a Thriller 8mb PCI Rendition card and I'm getting the dashboard. I've missed out on a lot of this thread so I'm not sure what the big deal is. ???? Andrew San Diego

Are you getting the dashboard in 3d mode or software? I'm not sure if it uses d3d or ogl, but in software you can always get the dash.
