GPL and Windows98 solution

1 post by 1 person · 20 Aug 1998 - 20 Aug 1998

Since so many have problem with GPL demo and Win98, here is how I made it work: First uninstall GPL demo if you have used the normal install procedure. 1. Unpack the gpldemo.exe to c:\gpl using winzip. (Dont run the file) 2. Copy wininet.dll from c:\gpl to c:\gpl\program 3. Make c:\gpl\program\controls directory 4. Make c:\gpl\program\replay directory 5. Make c:\gpl\program\options.ini writable (Properties, uncheck Write-only) 6. Start the game from c:\gpl\program\gpl.exe 7. Calibrate joystick/wheel. Exit program before "entering" the car 8. Copy the options.ini from c:\gpl\program\controls to c:\gpl\program directory 9. edit c:\gpl\program\options.ini to reflect the 3dcard you use lastRasterizerDLL = rast3dfx.dll (if you have 3dfx card) 10. Make c:\gpl\program\options.ini read only. 11. Start the game. It should now hopefully be working Hope this helps --
