I am very interested in buying a 3dfx voodoo2 card.......I have a P166
MMX with 24 megs of ram.......my question is , is it worth the $200.00
investment with this system?
The Voodoo2 card wont have that much (if any) inprovement over the performance
of a Voodoo1 card on your system.
I would recommend 2 options:
1) Get a Voodoo 1 based card and more memory for the time being, if you are
planning to keep your system for some time.
2) If you are planning to upgrade your PC in the near future...go ahead and get
a Voodoo 2 card now and then transfer it to your new system.

If you plan on upgrading to a P2 in the near future, sure, go ahead and
spend the extra money and get a voodoo2 card. If your trying to make your
system last as long as you can, and are budget minded, go with the voodoo1
card. Canopus has probably the best voodoo1 card in the Pure3d. I have it in
my 233 mmx, and love it. You can get the LX version pretty cheap now, around
129 I think. It comes with 6mb ram, 4 of which are for texture memory. Check
it out at www.canopuscorp.com

no, if you are planning on keeping the p166, just get a 3Dfx Voodoo 1
card, you will not really see any improvement with a Voodoo 2 unless
you have a P2 system.

I'd say upgrade first. That way you will get an immediate improvement straight away. On
the other hand, it depends on what type of vid card/s you have now. If you don't already
have a V1 then getting a V2 will immediately open up a new world to you. Btw, in the
meantime, stop waisting that 166mmx at 166mhz. Overclock it to 200mhz! With a good fan and
heatsink setup you can even get 225/233mhz out of them.

If you plan to bux a new CPU > 266 - yes.
But the V2 doesn't have any advantages on older CPUs...take a V1 for
a few bucks and kick some ass !
Also, man mailt sich...

Unfortunately Intel apparently 'fixed' a lot of later 166mmx chips, so they
can't be o/cd. Like mine

However, your graphics card might not
like it. Try 75mhz bus speed. If that works then try 83mhz but your memory needs to be
good quality for that.
