A while back I saw a blurb about a gamed called "Rivals: Sports Car Racing" that said it was coming out from Sierra later this year. Haven't seen anything about this recently but ran across this Preview of "Viper Racing" on NGonline ... [link lost in import] Looks pretty slick. Wonder, is this a Papy title?

Nope. I read a review last week, at [link lost in import] and it said it's being developed by some group called MGI, which is run by that other Papyrus co-founder, Rich Garcia. It looks pretty interesting. :) A genuine realistic Viper *sim*. Which will be a change from the usual ***these days like NFS3 or TestDrive, etc.

A Viper sim eh? So it will accurately recreate the feeling of a front heavy car with too much power for it's own good mainly driven by middle age posers? Can't wait M

Yeah....something like a NASCAR. > A Viper sim eh? So it will accurately recreate the feeling of a front heavy > car with too much power for it's own good mainly driven by middle age > posers? -- Regards, Bruce. ----------

NASCAR drivers aren't posers, just middle aged for the most part... unlike those Aussie V8 *ahem* "super"car drivers. Craig "Can't cut it in Europe" Lowndes is a case in point. He looks like a racing driver, just doesn't race like one :) Viper drivers are invariable businessmen who think they're good drivers but only use the Viper for town and have their E-Class (insert director-mobile of choice in place of E-Class) for places they'd get into trouble in the Dodge. BTW that's the other thing about Vipers... who ever heard of a GOOD American sportscar? M p.s. Before people point at the GT2 Viper, it took a European team to do that :)

Of course, we wont mention Jason Bright, the Australian V8Supercar driver who kicked butts in the American FF2000 series shall we? Or David Besnard, who can beat the field in the 1998 FF2000 series WITHOUT a rear wing on his car! I can't wait for the day an American driver from any formula comes to Oz and races one of our cars successfully. Pruett and Kendall already tried and failed....who's next? :-) -- Nathan Wong http://www.nectar.com.au/~alfacors - Super Touring - Alfa Romeo - - V8Supercars - CART -

No disagreement about American drivers, my comments are about Australian drivers tho. Generally they're great in Australia but seem to forget how to drive when they reach Europe unless they come over here early in their careers and learn HOW to race in Europe. Mark Webber is an exception to the rule, but I hope we don't see Lowndes anywhere outside these shores again, it'd be a shame to waste an F3000 seat on him for yet another year. M

Why Lowndes was based in Austria, where he could speak to no one, is a mystery. With a more familiar environment I think his confidence would improve. I doubt he's a waste of space however. Didn't he get a 4th in at least 1 race? If he can get settled into a pattern of driving to win as he does here I would not be surprised how far he could go on an international stage. Stay tuned, he's still young. The key to racing in Europe is simple. Make yourself at home and do your own thing. Even to the point of being a little irreverent if necessary. Don't do it anyone elses way - do it YOUR way! Turn up to a track and think of it as YOUR track. Once again, just make yourself at home :) Get out on the track and stick it to 'em! You listening Craig? LOL.
