I have achieved 330kph (204mph) at Imola using the following car set-up: front wing - 10 Rear wing - 0 Brakes - 38.500 - 61.500 1st gear ratio - 30.64 2nd gear ratio - 37.64 3rd gear ratio - 44.64 4th gear ratio - 51.64 5th gear ratio - 58.64 6th gera ratio - 64.64 Advanced settings: (left & right front settings) Packers - 40 damp fast bump - 8 fast rebound - 6 slow bump - 24 slow rebound - 20 spring - 1600 ride height -16mm Advanced settings: (left & right rear) packers - 0 damp fast bump - 0 fast rebound - 0 slow bump - 0 slow rebound - 0 spring - 1000 ride height - 47.5mm I have achieved laps of 1:20 (using keyboard) with this set-up, not near enough to the really fast guys but fast enough for me? You could lower the 1st & 2nd gear ratio's slightly if you use a wheel or joystick, but they need to be that high using a keyboard or else there is too much wheelspin at low speeds. This set-up should be used with the minimum amount of fuel for qualifying or a couple of flying laps (3 max) after that the tyres will be shot to bits, and the ride height is set pretty low too, so the plank will wear after a couple of laps. This set-up is really for two fast laps and no more. If you wanted to you could alter the settings so they are a bit more conservative, and then use it for a race set-up, eg:- say, put on a bit more wing, increase the ride height, and lower the gear ratio's a notch, etc. You can hit the 330kph speed after Tamburello as you go through Rettiflio......awesome! Hope the set-up helps..... 8-) BTW, I did *not* alter the cars performance using any of the editors available, I have the gp2edit program, and the 1998 season installed, and drive one of the Williams, but I have not touched the cars performance at all. BTW, (again) I'm sure the *really* fast guys have much quicker set-ups? and would confirm that these set-ups and speeds are possible without having to hack the game code at all. In fact you may find that 330kph and a laptime of 1:20 is pretty slow compared to the fastest guys!!!! 8-) *Peter* 8-) (NB: remove asterix to e-mail)

.... Ahem <plugplugplug> :-) Indeed. I myself am the proud owner of a 1m17.579 legal non-slowmo keyboard practice lap at Imola. BHP fixed at 779. Top speed after Tamburello: 332 kph. This is with 1.2 laps of fuel at the start of the lap and plank worn out about 100m after the finishline <G> BTW: another keyboard-ACE sent me a 1m17.549, which I still don't forgive him :-) I seem to remember that I got to 348kph when slipstreaming at Hockenheim. That's the fastest I have ever done in GP2. That's >the fastest I have ever done in GP2. If slipstreaming is included, I must add my spectacular no-bhp-tampering 352 Km/H on the first straight after start-finish at Hockenheim. You see, slipstreaming and slipstreaming are 2 different things, apparently. Slipstreaming with a Williams, Benetton or Ferrari behind a Tyrell doesn't work. I got behind the other Williams, whilst driving a Williams. Both full throttle off course. Painstakingly, the speed went to 340... 345... 346.... 347... 348.... 349.... 350.... 351....352 for about 0.001 of a second because I had to throw out the anchor in order to brake for the chicane. With the BHP-setting at max... 450 Kmp, no sweat. Gearbox 6th completely full. Still thick in the red-revs. If it's possible to set even longer 6th, you can I bet reach speeds of 600 Km/H.

I hate to be picky but I assume you mean the run from Tamburello through Villenuve to the right hander at Tosa. Rettifilio and the variante retifillio are the main start finish straight and first chicane at Monza

Peter wrote Hmm sure but... When you pass 330kph, your car enters a time/distance distortion of reality and becomes a Time Machine... You suddenly change position around the Globe and he reappeared at Monza... At least he didn't appeared in Manhattan... just imagine with all those building the processor occupancy in GP2 would go kaboom !! (at least 38200%). Well I though I wasn't the only person with this option. > >I hate to be picky but Well, I hate to be picky too, but...... No, you assume wrong! You are correct that the Rettifilo is the straight at Monza, But I am referring to the Rettifiolo (or Rettiflio?) which is at Imola, the long straight immediately after Tamburello but before the *LEFT* hander called Tosa (this is *NOT* a right hander as the Imola circuit is anti clockwise?) Are we being pedantic or what? 8-) *Peter* 8-) (NB: remove asterix to e-mail)

Another one's about to send you a 1m17.506s ;-) Shame it's wasted now - you know what I mean. Let me know when I can try and beat it :-) btw on this lap MAX PO is only 100% - average must be 60 - 70% Anyway top speed on this lap was 206 MPH - Rene's Perfview says 205.something (330.something kph) Just a thought, but if I used kph I would have a more accurate measure of speed. Good for judging top gear when it appears to make no difference in MPH. Below is the AUTH code so whoever was asking has a decent set-up. However, don't let the plank touch the ground on your out-lap. Then out of the last chicane go for it. The plank will just last a lap. *** 1m17s506.hlc: Hot lap for Imola Level: Ace Session: unlimited practice Car #34, driven by Mike Wallace Power 779 BHP, weight 1318 lbs, frame rate 25.6 FPS Lap time 1:17.506 (split 1 0:22.551, split 2 0:49.677) F1 Auto Brakes : off F2 Auto Gears : off F3 Spin Recovery : off F4 Indestructability: off F5 Ideal Line : off F6 Suggested Gear : off F7 Throttle Help : off Steering : digital Throttle : digital Brakes : digital Setup: 10,1 R43.000:57.000F 39,43,49,56,62,66 ARB: F 00000 R 0000 30/8/8/00/00/1600/20.0 30/8/8/00/00/1600/20.0 52/8/8/00/00/1000/44.0 52/8/8/00/00/1000/44.0 Authentication code: [001C045E000C02040A012EC200581700C20D0000349F254000A4AB660A01272B31383E4 20238] [00806E6E6E0034341E1E08A10000A000086464A0A0585828284C01133F30400005264D6 96B65] [2057616C6C61636500E9070002AB05E10000] I've reached about that too, but unassisted you go quicker with the rear of the car very low (although you lose the plank). This is because the rear wing is less exposed to the air flow and therefore causes less drag. -- Michael C Wallace

I take your point I have already been informed that Retifilio is in fact Italian for "straight", I've just never heard of the run after Tamburello being referred to as anything. As for the left / right hander thing that probably explains why I keep dropping the car there - call it a typo.
