Web poll shows Grand Prix 3 most awaited sim

A poster was surprised that a web poll put Grand Prix 3 at 70% as the most awaited sim, ahead of GPL and NASCAR 3. Others said the newsgroup was not representative of the wider market. Joke posts under Geoff Crammond's name and speculation about GP3's status followed.

Automated summary.

I came across this poll of the most awaited sims. http://www.racingsims.com/ is ahead with a 70%. Nascar is at only 5%. GPL is just 20%. I'm a little surprised by this poll only because it doesn't at all seem to match up with the general consensus here at r.a.s. Dave (DmndDave)
Perhaps the denizens of RAS are not indicative of the people being polled? How was the survey done? Who did it and where was it carried out? Don't get too carried away by "statistics" until/unless they actually *ARE* statistics! :o)

It's the correct URL. The site must be temporarily down. Dave (DmndDave)

Check the web site for your answers. I'm not carried away by the stats, just though it was interesting. I'm a regular here at r.a.s. but to be honest, I don't see it as being worth a dime as a barometer of the state of auto sims. The sim developers obviously feel the same way as evidenced by their absence. I recognize so many of the names, and the attached opinions, that it's simply too small to be representative of anything but itself. Precisely, David! :o) > I'm a regular here at r.a.s. but to be honest, I > don't see it as being worth a dime as a barometer of the state of auto sims. > The sim developers obviously feel the same way as evidenced by their > absence. >Precisely, David! :o) I think that most of the people who read r.a.s. take sim racing very seriously; seriously enough to take the time to search/give info on the matter, by coming here and to Web sites. Not all persons who are interested in sim racing are that interested. And some sim developers do come here. Perhaps that makes r.a.s. readers different from other sim racers. An idea: why doesn`t someone with a site create a poll for r.a.s. readers, and anyone else who wants to participate? Anything to keep us busy until GPL comes out:)) Regards, Daniel Fris

If you ask me it explains more than just that :-D Yeah, well, with that arcade driving model, can`t expect anything else now can you :-D Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy UncleGoy on TEN PS checked the stats on your new account, you`re climbing nicely :-D
That's because I have a lot of free time to vote - over and over and over and over... -- Geoff Crammond I came across this poll of the most awaited sims. http://www.racingsims.com/ GP3 is ahead with a 70%. Heavens, NO! Not at all, Andre-Joe-Bob! :o) Facetiousness and tongue-in-cheek, yes. Disdain....definitely not. > Did I detect a slight note of disdain in that above post? I've only voted once, but it did go for GP3. :-) Dave (DmndDave) That's because I have a lot of free time to vote - over and over and over and over... -- Geoff Crammond I came across this poll of the most awaited sims. http://www.racingsims.com/ GP3 is ahead with a 70%. I wuz real worried now, 'cuz I thought maybe you'ins wuz makin' fun of us here "good ol' boys"... kno'whad'uh'mean? BTW, when did "Geoff Crammond" move to New Mexico? (See his email address) I thought he was a Brit or something. (Of course, I ASSUMED he was a Brit, but you know what the word ASSUME can do, right?) Surely we're not being scammed here by a fictitious "Geoff Crammond", are we? BTW2, having rediscovered my GP2 sim of late, I've been enjoying racing thereon once more. I wonder if there really IS a GP3, and I wonder if it will consume as much relative CPU power as GP2 does? i.e. GP2 sold in the era of P100's, but barely runs okay on my P233. If that's so, can you imagine what kind of horsepower GP3 would want? Mind boggling... Later... Andre

L. Andre Ming wrote No... you don't get it... I only know the real stuff about where is Mr. Crammond, the god of Gods, the master of the Masters, the cherry in our pixeled sunday. ;-) With all the money he got with Gp2 and since he spent about 0.00$ on the after-shipping service and technical support, Geoff bough a private island for himself in Hawaii and made built a multi-million dollar Mansion where he spends all the time in his Harem with multiple wife and has fun making orgies of anykind. Note that he also bought a Cray Supercomputer for his personal fun and we heard rumors that he had to remove the Sky texture at Monaco to make Gp2 run decently ;-P - Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> Good race at the Brickyard, (-o-) - Official Mentally retarded guy of r.a.s. - Member of the r.a.s. I asked: To which the intrepid ymeynard remarked: And Bruce Kennewell Esq. commented: To which I say: Hmmm. So neither of you knows anything factual about an alledged GP3? I for one, sure HOPE it's true. Despite the negative ranting by many about GP2, I think it's a pretty neat sim. VERY different from my Papy sims (N2,ICR2). But that's one of the reasons I like it: When I tire of banging doors with "the good 'ol boys", it's offers a COMPLETELY new world to experience. So, I think a sequel (GP3) would be a lot of fun, especially if the new version has nifty features like in-car radio and weather. Besides, I'm coming to like F1 more and more. That last race I saw (Silverstone) was an exciting and dramatic race. "Full Honk" racing in the rain? Wild. Later... Andre
