To briefly summarise: 1967 German Grand Prix
Qualifying: 8' 04.01 Jim Clark - Lotus
Fastest Lap: 8' 15.01 Dan Gurney - AA Eagle
Winner: Dennis Hulme - Brabham
Further to my posting regarding the laptime of a Papyrus tester (Thanks for your post) to complete their first lap of Nurburgring (which was around half an hour), I have been informed of the fastest lap times around the circuit in 1967.
In '67 the cars ran in two classes the F1's and F2's. Pole was set at the cracking pace of 8 mins and 4 secs by Jim Clark in the Lotus. Some 9 secs!!! back in second position was Dennis Hulme from NZ in the Repco Brabham who became the eventual winner of the event. Third was Jackie Stewart almost 2 secs further adrift with a fastest qualifying time of 8 mins and 15 secs.
The slowest car out of interest was the Protos-Cosworth F2 of Brian Hart with a lap of 8 mins and 59 secs. (Glad there wasn't a 107% rule cut off would be around 8 mins 35 secs)
The '67 race took around 2 hours and 5 mins to complete the 15 Laps! At a good race average speed of 163.2 km/h (this is no Mickey Mouse circuit sorry Hungaroring) As mentioned it was won by Dennis Hulme in a Brabham one-two with Sir Jack Brabham some 38 seconds adrift.
Incidentally Jim Clark the pole sitter, retired on lap 4 of 15 with a front suspension problem. It is worrying to note that a large percentage of retirements were caused by front or rear suspension failures, will this be an indication of what to expect in GPL? Let's wait and see... (It'd be good although a bit frustrating!)

Hehe yep,
From what I have heard... All the Papyrus "core-8" testers and employees
are just below or higher of the 10mins 00secs laps !!!

Food for thought, although with 170 odd turns or so, it will take a long
loooong time to learn. I was just thinking what a bummer it was to spin out
on turn 1 or 2 at watkins glen, and then having to complete the lap before
starting my next attempt. That's going to be nothing compared to
Nurburgring. Woooops spun it on the first turn, oh well I'll start a new lap
in 8-10mins time....
It might be quicker to go back to the main screen and restart the session!

Matt
