I have some weird issues with GPL on my machine. The first demo that came
out did not run at all on my machine. I couldn't figure out why but here
were the symptoms:
The install would go fine
I would start the app and calibrate the T1 plugged into an ACM game card.
The sim would start but right after I started moving, it got SO choppy
that I couldn't control the car.
After I got the version from the PCGamer disk, I installed it again. I
was actually able to drive it smoothly! I even got down to about a 1:13
before I decided the try the Optimized drivers for the T1. After that, I
couldn't control the car again. Same deal as last time.
I re-installed the demo and it was OK again. Every once in a while things
would get messed up and I could re-install and be OK. But at the end of
last week, the re-install method no longer would work. I can't run it
anymore.
It seems to be a timing issue. It might be related to my soundcard
(AWE64) but the controller is probably the real issue. I don't know where
to go from here and I am afraid that the real version will be released and
I won't be able to play it. Since, when it worked for me, it was the most
amazing sim I have ever driven, I want to take steps to eliminate this
problem.
Thanks for any help you might offer,
J. Hunsberger
