I have a P200 with 64meg Ram and a Sceaming 3d Rendition board and mine runs perfect and flawless with everything turned up. Tony
Hi, I wanted to download Grand Prix legends, but i saw that minimum requirements were a pentium 166. My question is: I have a Pentium 100 will it run on my computer or not. Thanx, Richard Hasselt "It isn't the great races people remember, it is the monumental***-ups!", Damon Hill

It ran like crap, so, unless you have a Voodoo/Voodoo2/Voodoo Rush, don't bother.

I hope the final version has a little lower (P133 maybe) minimum requirement. I really can't afford a new mobo right now. :-(

> I have a P200 with 64meg Ram and a Sceaming 3d Rendition board and mine runs > perfect and flawless with everything turned up. > Tony Hehe, that's because you have a Rendition card, supporting RRedline. RRedline runs very well on lower spec 'puters, so I guess you have the smoothest GPL running for the smallest amount of money! Lucky you... Not only does it run well, it looks well, too! So for all you lower end 'puter owners, Rendition cards are the only cards that will enable you to play decent GPL... ---Asgeir---
Without being rude, Richard, if the minimum is stated as being a P166 then it is unlikely that whatever ( if ever) runs on your P100 will be usable.

last week I bought a new computer (AMD K6 300 MHz). The 3Dfx-accelerator (Monster 3D) arrived a day later. When I tried GPL without 3Dfx, it was (despite of the processor) slow, even in low resolution (640X480). The day after, with 3Dfx, it ran very smooth, even in high resolution (800X600). So, I think GPL will run on CPU's slower than 300 MHz, too but you will need a 3Dfx accelerator in any case Greetings, Han Monsees

About the VooDoo Rush Chitset, the GPL demo WON'T work with the Voodoo Rush 3Dfx cards, I donno why, but I know first had they don't work. TomWardell #18 Side by Side Racing http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/2171/index.html

writes Same here but with a Creative Labs Voodoo2 instead. Looks a treat and runs really smoothly in the very highest resolution (1000x800 or something similar). In fact it looks not unlike a film a lot of the time. -- Spudgun

Untrue. I have a P200, with 96megs (or 98 megs depending on how you do the math), and a Monster II with 8megs and it runs perfect on my machine.

There is NO Voodoo RUSH support in the GPL demo. And knowing my luck, the final product won't either! And software mode is nice, but unplayable at high speeds.....unless you count laps around 1:40 fast.... *Hercules Stingray Voodoo Rush owner* -- Nathan Wong http://www.nectar.com.au/~alfacors - Super Touring - Alfa Romeo - - V8Supercars - CART -

... or a Rendition card ... GPL demo is much prettier on my V1000 card than on my Voodoo1 ... and frame rate looks to be the same, ie. no slowdowns w/ everything on. Hena

Me too, K6 200(clocked to 225) 64Mb SDram and 4Mb 3Dfx (v1) card and it flies along nicely with *all* details on, very smooth. If you have a 200MHz cpu and *any* program runs slowly, sort your pc out!!! get it optimised, get it configured properly, and give us a break!!! Sure it may slow down a tad when the full sim is released and we have more scenery, more cars, etc, but I'm very happy with GPL, long live GPL, VIVA GPL!!!!! 8-) *Peter* 8-) (NB: remove asterix to e-mail)

>> My question is: I have a Pentium 100 will it run on my computer or not. >No. >Harald (who also has a P100) It will if you have a Rendition card. At least, it did on my P100 (which I had for about a month before getting this K6 300, but hey, the P100 entire system only cost me $25, and I'm still using its hard drive, so I got somethin' out of it). Turn off most of the details, and it'll run pretty good. My lap times went down after installing the 300, because it ran more smoothly, but the demo was still decent and fun on the P100. It DID, however, tend to just cut back to Windows suddenly, particularly in bad accidents (I guess it just tried to use too much processor that wasn't there). Of course, the final version of the game won't work with a P100, since putting other cars on the track will undoubtedly suck up a heck of a lot of power. -- http://www2.cruzio.com/~keeper/toons.html - Animaniacs, P&TB, F!, etc. files http://www2.cruzio.com/~keeper/CSATSM.html - Capt Simian & The Space Monkeys http://www.armory.com/~keeper/midi.html - My own MIDI files - Updated 5 Mar
