Ok, I've been playing F1RS long enough now to get pissed off at some of
the bugs it has. I hear there's to be an F1RS2, so maybe Ubi can fix
these bugs then, or maybe even in the next patch...
1/. There should be an option to look at other cars, to see what weather
tyres they are on in a changable weather race. It's too confusing
without. Maybe you could also look at your AI team mate's setup page to
check out his wing settings and pit strategy before the race. I'm sure
this happens in real F1.
2/. The programmers should tell the AI cars that the inside line is the
best way to overtake into a corner. Too many times have I seen cars
battle it out in F1RS, where they are alongside each other, with the
inside car slightly ahead, then on entering the corner the inside
[ahead] car concedes the corner. This defies the first rule of racing.
3/. The AI cars never make mistakes. One of the best things in GP2 was
following an AI cars closely and seeing it lock wheels in front of you
as it came under pressure. Sometimes cars even spun off by themselves.
Not in F1RS...
4/. Make the damn backmarkers move out of the way. I crashed out of a
race at Monaco the other day, and decided to watch the AI cars finish
the race. The leader was stuck behind a backmarker for about 20
consecutive laps!!
5/. There seem to be a few major car failures, but the only one I've
ever witnessed is an engine blowup (according to the post-race report
Rosset had suspension failure once in Monaco but I never saw it!). I've
seen AI cars with slight failures, but never serious ones, apart from
the aforementioned.
6/. When AI cars lose gears they tend to keep trucking around the track
as if they are racing, even when they only have 2 gears left and can
only go about 50mph. This is pretty unrealistic, and annoying, as the
other cars fly along a straight and almost whack the struggling car lap
after lap till the race ends.
Lastly, make it so the game works properly with my 3D Blaster Voodoo2. I
can't get the mirrors working, and it crashes when I click on the
scrollbar in the 'F1 Mag'.
I'm sure there are some more I've forgotten; I'll post them when I
remember... ;)

Are you running 1.09? The mirror problem was sorted some time ago.

Yeah I used the 1.09 patch, but it wasn't patched before that. Does the
1.09 contain previous patches too?

Have to agree, although this should probably be called an "enhancement
request" and not a bug. It would certainly add to the realism,
especially if the backmarkers are 2 or 3 laps down. Not sure what
rules you'd use, except maybe implementing some kind of "virtual blue
flag." In fact, implemening visible blue flags would be nice in
general.

This one I've seen a few times. A/I cars stuck in low-gear and
high-rev, crawling around the circuit. Yup, they pit when they feel
like it (hehe!).

1.09 is the only one you need. It contains all other patches.

Ok, I'd like to put my dunce hat on in public for a minute. Turns out my
desktop shortcut, for some reason pointed to the non-3DFX version of the
game, so I'd been playing that instead. It's wierd though, the ppl at
the shop where I had my voodoo2 put in must have reinstalled my directX
version of the game, because it wasn't even installed before.
Anyway, sorry for arsing ppl about...
PS. All my main gripes still stand :)

That's because it's running D3D drivers and not 3DFX. Had the same
problem, there's a nice zip file floating around that has a few .dll
files that you put in your windows/system directory so that you can
install F1RS in 3DFX mode.
Just run up install again, and if you can't select 'Install 3DFX
version', then you're running the D3D version.

Yes, this is true, but it should never happen that the inside driver
gives way to the other driver. It never happens in real F1.
I don't mean those kind of mistakes. Sure, the cars tend to crash into
each other, but that's mainly to do with the fact that they aren't that
intelligent and 2 cars into one don't go. I meant the type of thing
written above.

Sorry, I don't mean to quote your post out of context, it's just that the above
sounds a lot like last weekends Grand Prix!

Not all F1 drivers are called M. Schumacher. ;-) I'm quite sure quite
a few F1 drivers would and will give way to someone coming from
outside, if it is probable that the only alternative is crashing with
that car.

But the severity with which it happens in F1RS is what annoys me. Even
if the inside car is infront of the other, it will still give way. You
would NEVER EVER see this in F1!

My experience is that the F1RS AI cars are very stingy when it comes to each
other, but are overly gracious in conceding ground to the player. I've
watched a few races where I (usually :-)) deliberately retired early. Time
and time again I see the leaders have great trouble getting past the
backmarkers. They'll keep trying to pass at the same poor place lap after lap
where a much easier place is elsewhere (ex: Spa's Eau Rouge whereas a pass
just after would be a piece of cake). Conversely, I seem to get away with
risky late-brake passes the vast majority of the time.
