Say I wanna burn 2gig of data onto some CDRs. How can I EASILY do it? (no, I don't want to piece meal and have to divide up the data myself) I have Easy CD Creator 4.0 but don't see how to do it, if it can? Thanks in advance.

If I'm reading into your post correctly, I believe Norton Ghost does what you want. I have version 6.01 (or something similar) from 1999 and when I boot into DOS with my bootable floppy, I type the following to get Ghost running and split the files up nicely so that they can be archived onto CD's: Ghost.exe -split=646 This specifies that no image file should be larger than 646MB.

You could use winrar and then compress the file into 3 650-700 meg archives and then burn these files to separate cd's... http://rarsoft.com/rar/wrar330.exe I think it's a 30 day demo and then it starts to nag you though Destroy wrote:

Look for a freeware utility called GSplit. RAR it down to 1 file then GSplit it to 2 CD size pieces. -- : : She's got a tongue like an electric eel : and she likes the taste of a *man's* tonsils ... :

WinRar can do the splitting itself at compression time. No need for an external utility. -- >^..^< Bernard www.cs.uwa.edu.au/~langhb01
Use winzip with the multiple disk snapping option? -- R. GPLRank +79.699 "Destroy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:5b66c.17226$[email hidden]... > Say I wanna burn 2gig of data onto some CDRs. I use a prog called "filesplitter", no genius to it really. it creates a batch file to go with the first disc, and can extract with that on any computer with prompts to enter next disc when extracting. -- begin; writeln('This is just a tagline'); end; Take out the CUSSIN to reply to me

I know Roxio Easy CD Creator 6.0 will auto span to multiple cdr's if it won't fit on one cdr. I guess they left that out of 4.0? For disk or partiton imaging Norton Ghost will span multiple cdr's.

It's really not hard to do yourself. Just use Winzip 8.1. It makes it as easy as it possibly can be, even having pre-selected sizes for various media. -Larry "Destroy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:5b66c.17226$[email hidden]...

Yeah, Ghost 2003 will span CD's and DVD's - nice bit of kit. "NightSky 421" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Winrar does this as well, easier as you can split the files in windows. Dan
Yeah, but does it image whole partitions - retaining their primary/logical status so you can restore as was ? > Winrar does this as well, easier as you can split the files in windows. > > Dan > > >

No it won't, but the poster was talking about archiving large files, not an entire partition. Using Norton to archive files is like using a sledgehammer to nail a picture to the wall.OTOH it is a great backup utility for partition images. HTH Dan
