Hi, I have a Guillemot Maxi Gamer 3DFX card, in a P200MMX with 48mb ram, S3
Virge DX.
When I run Native 3DFX(Glide) stuff I have no problems, but when I run
Direct 3D
(or Direct Draw) games, when I am given the choice of Graphics card to use I
always choose the 3DFX one.
As soon as the game goes into 3D mode the computer hangs with a black
screen.
The choice I have is for my S3 card or "mm3DFX".
I think that the mm3DFX should actually be dd3DFX. Is this a different
driver, where can I get it from.
Until this is fixed, I am unable to play a lot of stuff, please help me.
Thanks,
David Cane
I know this is a repeat of my other post but this time I have included a
query about driver names

card are trying to take over the D3D apps that the 3DFX card is assigned.
Does this only happen with the Guillemot Card + S3 Virge?
If so, where can I get a patch or will I have to change one of my Cards?

I haven't heard of any patches but there is a utility called 3DCC that
you can get at http://www.bjorn3d.com/download/3dfiles1.html. It's a
very small program that lets you assign whether your primary display
adaper or secondary display adapter will handle the Direct 3d calls. I
have a Stealth 2 and an Orchid R3d and I have found it to be quite
useful, since by default my 3DFX wants all the direct 3D, but I can
get 800x600 resolution from the Steath, which is nice. It's also fun
to toggle between the two and see the differences between the two.
Give it a try, I think it should clear up your problem.

This is a problem with all 3Dfx cards and some S3 chipsets.
The patch is available from http://www.3dfx.com or http://www.orchid.com
