I just purchased GPL from Amazon, where is the best place to download
the numerous mods, track, and cars and everything else that is
available? I know there are a lot of patches, and I want it all!
Can't wait to play it! Isn't it funny, this much excitement over a
game this old? Goes to prove a good point IMO.

Car updates: http://gplea.racesimcentral.com/
Note that these only change the shape & textures, the driving
characteristics are unaltered.
Tracks: http://trackdb.d2g.com/
For any other needs check:
http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=36
for tips, setups, driving advice & general chat.
The learning curve is steep but ultimately worth it imo.

Does GPL run on XP?
I know it's not supported but wondering if anyone has had any success.
(I've tried the demo, which was a no-go).

Runs like gangbusters ! You may have sound stutters or minor controller
issues, but they are easily fixed for the most part.

Works prefectly as long as you are running the papy patches.

Or, just download the all-in-one Papy patch at Magnus's trackdb.d2g.com.
Worked fine on my brother's xp system.

If you're running it on an NTFS drive ( as opposed to FAT32) you have to set the indexing feature to ON.
To do this, right-click on your GPL directory and pick "Properties", then "Advanced" (in the lower
right-hand corner), then make sure that "For fast searching, allow Indexing Service to index this folder"
is checked.
