The main problem I find with TOCA is the lack of rear view mirror.
I have a TM GP1 with 2 buttons on the dash, one of which I use to
display the rear cam view. However it's a bit tricky to press while
accelerating. How do other people set up the rear cam view ?

It's the only way with your wheel. What I would do is assign the shifting
to the buttons mounted on your wheel, and put the rearview on space bar.
It doesn't require to search on the keyboard (It's the biggest and easiest
key to reach). I found it easier to press spacebar than to reach the
2buttons on the right of the wheel.
Well, this is how I prefer, but in normal cases just assign it to one of the
2 right buttons on your wheel (the other one for the horn !!!).

Hmmm, does this remark imply that the horn actually does anything other
than amuse children? I never touch it.
While I'm on the subject... which is the most competitive car and which
is the most competetive view to use? 'Menu' is practically impossible to
beat in championship mode and I'm getting really frustrated. I really
hate racing games when I don't even have a chance at bringin home the
'cup'.

I don't think it does. A good rear shunt generally does the trick.
Incidentally I notice that the other drivers may flash their headlights
at you if you cut them up severely. Nice touch.
I find the headcam is best, particularly with wheel controller.
I drive the Honda, which seems to be pretty quick.

I suspect you are using the keyboard. This is ***and it is impossible to
set decent times. Plus it doesn't feel like you are really driving the
thing, which is what TOCA is all about. If I'm wrong - sorry! - but with
practice you should be able to win any race from a midfield start, even
from the back if you get lucky in the first few corners. I use "over the
bonnet" as it gives what I think is probably the best drivers eye view.
Behind the car is simply for the arcade - where's the fun of an opposite
lock slide if you don't feel like you're in the car?

I use the steering wheel button on my Thrustmaster Nascar pro wheel. It is
real convienient to just tap it for a second to see the baddies behind me.
This game is cool when in rear view as the view is full screen and not a
tiny mirror.
By the way, is there actually an influence on the other cars when you sound
the horn? I haven't noticed it yet.
Harald.

Naw, I didn't found any advantage to it. Like the arm in GPLegends ;-)
But, it's fun to impress your friends when you show the game with 30+fps
with all details on my PC. The horns makes them laugh and tell "Wow it's
cooler than DaytonaUSA on the arcades"

When you get to drive a tank in the game, pressing "horn" launches
your cannon. :)

What the hell are you doing looking *BEHIND* you?
Sit up straight, eyes front, stamp on that pedal and GOOOOoooo....
Don't worry about the other cars unless they are trying to get
*INSIDE* the car with you!!!!

You're mad. I like that.
What the hell are you doing looking *BEHIND* you?
I also use a GP1. What i did was drilled two holes in the other side
of the GP1 Dash (on the left of the steeering wheel) and wired in two
more SP Momentary Push Switches in parallel with the two that are
already there.
This works fine for me, as it allows you to use the switches under
accelerating or braking.
If you have any questions regarding wiring, re-post....

I like the extra challenge of driving while looking out of the back
window.
