I have a T1 which works fine with F1RS and TOCA right now. But in Nascar 2 it steers to the left when I steers to the right (visa versa)... I had this problom also in the past but can't remember how I fixed it. Does anybody has the same problem/solution please help me out. Thanks, Sander
Cross your arms? MM

Try in your calibration when it tells you to first steer right then left, go opposite... But I think that was only Nascar 1... Just do the opposite of what's normal in the calibration. Also set it up in your control panel in WIN95. Or you could get brave and open up the wheel and reverse the leads on the Pot (potentiometer) now that would fix it, but that's a lot of work... My suggestion is to contact Thrustmaster and ask them. They have been really good and supportive of their racing products. I have broken each pedal spring twice and they Immediately sent me new ones for free and shipping free... Now I have the new "reinforced" springs that shouldn't break. Give em a try and let me know how it goes. Jax

Carefully follow any on-screen calibration instructions. Some programs require that you turn the wheel a certain direction first. I can't remember if N2 requires one direction or the other. If it doesn't pretend that it does and steer left first then right. If this still has the steering backwards, try turning right first then left when you calibrate the steering axis. -- **************************** Michael E. The answer is simple. It is not a calibration problem. Go to the set steering controller option and steer left 1st. It appears that you may have steered to the right 1st which would cause the problem you described. Hello there. You just need to recalibrate in Nascar 2. When you set the controls for steering it gives you the instruction as "turn the wheel left and then right". Here is the problem. When you hit enter they start looking for joystick input. When you turn the wheel left it calls any values to the left of the original value "steer left" and then kicks you out of the screen. You don't get a chance to steer right at all and you shouldn't press enter again and steer right or you will get reversed steering. They really only look for which side of the center value you want to call "left" and then call the other side right. So, if center is 0 and the first value they see is -1 then all numbers less then/to the left of 0 are considered to be left turn values. If the first value is +1 then all numbers more than/to the right of 0 are considered to be LEFT TURN VALUES. That is the bug in their logic. The first input is assigned to steer left and the opposite is assigned to steer right. So if your first input is actually steering right (which is what happens if you set the controls twice so that you can have steered both left and right) you will get reversed steering. This was the same in Indycar and Nascar 1. They should actually say "Steer to the left" and stop there. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Steven T.A. I have tried this but without success. But thanks for your reply.

: I have tried this but without success. But thanks for your reply. Have you tried deleting the controls.cfg and calib.val files and starting over?

Correct advice so far. That certainly sounds reasonable to me, and hardly worthy of being a "bug in their logic"... There is some slop in the controls setup screen to prevent slight control jitter from setting the inputs prematurely. But you are correct in that once the anti-jitter threshold is crossed, whatever control input you are sending is "left" and the opposite of that input is "right". Correct again. Ah, spoken like a joystick/wheel manufacturer... :-) Those instructions wouldn't work for someone who is using keyboard for input. (Granted keyboard steering folks are about to hate the game anyway, but maybe if they get it to work with the keyboard they'll know enough to buy an analog controller, and multiplying that by market share, thrustmaster stands a reasonable shot of getting that business...) Besides, if you follow the instructions precisely "Steer to the left then to the right", you get the correct behavior. If you make up your own "press enter in the middle of doing this" sequence, then you get screwed. User error... (Admittedly very slightly baited by the program...) And I'm sure this causes tech support calls to thrustmaster because people are "sure" that their controller is defective. Just like Sierra got calls when the adapter was needed to get the older controls to work in Win95 and when OSR2 changed "something" in the joystick system, etc. Consumers aren't very good at figuring out what's broken enough to know who to call for support. ---Jim
