I don't remember specifics, but I've been confused for a while over the
caution rules for N2. I've seen AI cars blow past me going into pit lane
under caution, without regard for passing me (on the inside even <G>).
And I've seen lapped AI cars pass the pace car to go all the way around
and take their lap back.
So, at what point can I ignore the restart order when entering the pits?
Once I drop to the apron can I just blow into the pits, or do I have to
stay in order?
If I'm a lapped car, but between the leader and the pace car, can I
pass the pace car and come all the way around?
Lou B.
Okay. Here is how it works. On a caution, you must stay in line until you
enter the speed limit zone in the pits. The other cars will try to pass
you, the way around this is to stay in their line so they can't come around
you. I know it sucks but that is the way it is. If you are between the
pace car and the leader when the caution comes out, yes you can pass the
pace car and go around, unless after you pass the pit guy says to stay
behind the pace car. Once you take the yellow though, even if the leaders
pit and you don't , and you are lapped and staring at the pace car, you
still have to stay behind it. When you leave the pit, get behind whatever
car the pit guy says to , and stay there until you see green.

Somehow the AI cars can go faster than you
without breaking the speed limit. Just drive wide so they can't pass
you.
I recall you must stay behind the guy who's in front of you on the
track UNTIL you cross the pit entering line. After that you can pass
anybody, until you cross the pit exit line.
I'm not sure about real NASCAR rules, but in the game I've done this
several times.

Yes I've noticed the same stuff. What about this, when a caution comes out
and the AI cars that crashed go directly into the pits without taking the
caution and still get back on the lead lap. All the while you are stuck
behind the pace car until you hear "pit road is open" I think that's a bug.
Why let them come in early and we can't? Also why are our pit times so slow
for no damage and a 4 tire change with gas? I think the best time I've seen
is an 18 second stop, but most average 20 to 21. No I don't have any
damage. that's why most of the time I opt for just a two tire swap, gas -n-
go. I hope Nascar 3 has some new features, like Pit road stalls as per
where you qualified. And maybe a 10 year season that will recognize you as
a winston cup winner if you won one. Also would like to see more cars
qualify than the race allows starting spots. On a few tracks it does it,
but you dont see it, the game just automatically eliminates the drivers.
Now what if you hit the wall and bent it up real bad and qualified last?
Could you take a past champions provisional?? Whoah... Maybe I'm getting
too in-depth about this. What do you think>?

second lead on second place (it was shrinking, the pack was gonna hunt me down
and leave me for dead) when a couple of AI cars got tangled and the yellow
came out. Having just crossed the finish line when this happened I kept my
foot in it to race back to the yellow. I crossed the finish line in first
place and immediately jumped on the brakes because I knew the crash was in
turn one.
Here's where the problem occurred. The pace car was down low and stopped
because of the crashed cars and I shot past him before I could get stopped and
ended having to stop on the back stretch and wait for him. I kept myself
moving about five miles an hour. The next ten cars behind me passed me, also
having passed the pace car and by the time the pace car caught up to me and I
fell in behind him I was in 11th place. Now that's bogus.
The pace car and I began passing cars at 75 mph but, when the green flag
dropped there were still six cars out in front of us and I restarted in
seventh place. Did those AI cars get black flagged? Are you kidding? They
were dust in the wind as soon as the green dropped. You can bet your ass that
if I had stayed out in front of the pace car and in the lead, I would have
been flagged for passing the pace car though. Seems to me if I have to follow
a certain set of rules then the AI cars should surely follow the same rules.

The problem is clearly that AI cars can't get black flags. I don't
think this should be too hard to fix, but we'll propably only see it
in NASCAR3.

I know cheating sucks, but when the computer does it to you it's time to
FIGHT BACK... Now if this situation happens to you again just do this to
"cheat" your way back to the top. pull out to the left and move forward
towards the next in line AI car's bumper. Now just move slightly enough
forward so that if you make a HARD RIGHT you will cause him to spin!! Ok,
now make that hard right and spin him out. Get on the brakes if you look
like you're gonna hit him. Now pass him, and move to the next car. You can
move yourself back into your original position this way. I've had the same
thing happen to me and that's what I did. And no you won't get a black flag
unless they tell you to, "Stay behind the "blah" car" I know it's
cheating, but in a sense it's not if you are cheated by the computer. I
also like to start a quick race with no pace lap or yellow flag, start last
and when the green flag comes out do a 180 and head the other direction!!
Then you'll get that msg "when you get a couple of hours, explain to me why
you did that" and "Looks like we got a little brain failure" Oh the crash
is intense!!! try it sometime if you're warped like me you'll like it!!
