Installed DirectX 5 and tried to get GPL to load last night. Set it up in Rendition mode and tried to start the game and got kicked back to Windows. After reinstalls of GPL and DirectX 5, tried again and same thing, back to Windows. Reset graphics to software and finally..game does start. But....calibration screen comes up and whenever I click on OK or try to calibrate my wheel, or even click on OK to get back to change the joystick driver ( I do read this group ) all I get is "lock-up". Mouse pointer will move but nothing happens and cannot get out of the game. Reboot time..very annoying. So far I am not as impressed as the rest of you are. Haven't decided if this is worth this or not. Right now I see htis as just a waste of hard disk space.

I'm having the exact same problem (although I have GPL working fine on another computer... and believe me, it's worth it!). The computer I'm having problems on is: P166 (non-MMX, it's an O/C 133) HX chipset 40meg of mixed RAM (all apparently running at 60ns) [actually, I could have sworn I put 48meg in but it's reading 40meg and other applications/games/sims are working OK] Stealth II (V2100) Win95B (OSR2), which is the same OS on both machines. IE 3.0 I guess. Never even tried opening the "The Internet" icon. SODA works fine. TOCA works fine. F1RS works OK, for D3D.

Info below from this URL http://gpl.gamestats.com/ Slow or non-moving mouse in joystick calibration routine. If you encounter this move the mouse very very slowly. It will be very painful and you will need to be very patient but you should be able to move the mouse if you do it SLOWLY. Move the mouse to the OK button and click it. Next move the mouse SLOWLY to the Direct Joystick driver check box and check it. Your mouse should move better now. Hope this helps Jerry

For some reason my GPL starts the same way. I click on the Papyrus Icon on the Task Bar at the top thats showing through the calibration screen, and the Game will go ahead and start normally. If I click OK it locks up and I have to reboot. I've started GPL about 15 times this way. Also if Modem trys to connect, hit Cancel. Jim

The mouse moves very nicely, it just doesn't do anything when you click on anything, which is a bit of a problem when the calibration screen doesn't respond to keyboard inputs either.

I solved my problem by installing the latest bios and drivers for my 3D Blaster. I didn't want to do that as I have all kinds of problems with them on my system. Nascar2 wont run in Win95, ICR2 dos version won't run at all, VQuake gets graphic glitches, Doom95 won't run full screen and so on. GPL runs fine, though. I guess my box just doesn't like Direct-X 5.0. P5-200, 64 meg EDO, 3D Blaster. Maybe it has something to do with not having MMX or something.
