F1RS and SST1INIT.dll

1 post by 1 person · 05 Apr 1998 - 05 Apr 1998

Hi, I have p166/3dfx (ver 1) 3dfx reference drivers F1rs wouldn't detect my 3dfx card at first. I jumped onto the newsgroups and it seemed that the workaround was to have a file called SST1INIT.dll in \windows\system. So I copied glide2x.dll to SST1INIT.dll and it detected my card and installed fine. No minor problems have appeared in other games, Longbow2 now has the "purple***pit" bug and F15 runs like a dog. I removed SST1INIT.dll and F15 and Longbow2 now run OK but F1rs won't start because it can't detect my 3dfx card. What is the SST1INIT.dll file ? What does it do, where does it come from ? Please help ! Cheers, Ralph
