In the latest issue of Boot (April '98, pg. 32), a Riva 128 Rep. says that," With our second release of drivers, the Riva 128's performance is going to be in the ballpark of Voodoo 2,....", and continues that the dirvers will be available by the time this issue of Boot is on the street.. Question.....has anyone tried the new drivers with N2, and what's your opion?????....thanks......

Please, explain... I have a Viper 330 (Riva 128 Chipset) w/ Beta2 OpenGL drivers installed. It is my understanding that the Riva 128 chipset was designed for D3D and OpenGL, and not for Rendition or 3DFX(Glide). Does the Riva 128 support Glide or Rendition? Am I not getting it and the Riva 128 chipset does support them. Please explain! I am soooo confused! Is it different for the different manufactures using the Riva 128 chipset? What do I need to do to get it to work (if it wll)? I am also assuming that you are talking about 3D support for Nascar2, if not forget the whole thing. Thad Failor

Glide is 3dfx's proprietary API for the Voodoo/Voodoo2 chipsets, the Rendition cards have their own proprietary API. If he is talking about 3d support, he'll be sorely disappointed. N2 is 3d accelerated for Rendition- and 3dfx-based cards *only*. If you only have a Riva, you can only run unaccelerated N2. Any driver changes that boost 3d performance on the Riva will have no effect on N2 performance. If they also boost 2d performance, then you may notice some changes.
