Ok there is a flaw in the game Burnout and Bethesda is looking into it I'm
sure. But until there is a fix for it here how you can do a Burnout with High
hp power cars.Roll into the Burnout box and hit your line lock and
trans-brake,then bring your rpms up to what you have your stall set to.Then
let off the trans-brake and immediatily start hitting your reverse
button(don't hold it down),and just keep hitting and letting off on your
reverse button so the car will stay in on spot and you will burn up the
tires this way :), when the smoke starts to fade out or when your oil
pressure gets up to 200 your ready to get staged and ready to go.Since I
started doing this and using the 2 step key and a little fine tuning on my
car,I have took my best ET from 4.990 to a 4.74.
Hope this helps

Well if this is how the REAL FC & TF cars do burnouts, it is no
wonder I couldn't get it to work. Thanks for the tip.
[HIT REVERSE... YA RIGHT!!! haha phew! You are too funny]
IMHO Bethesda had to know this didn't work, or they need better
beta testers. And if burnouts actually work, why was there no
detailed method described in the manual? I did EXACTLY what
the manual said to do, but it didn't smoke the tires. Also a tire temp
indicator might be useful. I wonder how realistic it is for a 4000+HP
FunnyCar to do 6.197 in the 1/4 mile without doing a burnout? That
is exactly how I was playing the game.

This problem was brought up by the beta testers, but it apparently didn't get
fixed on the release version yet. From what I hear you took the game back
already so quit ***ing about a game you don't have anymore and let
everyone that enjoys it have fun.How many bugs does every game that is
released have in them that the companys know about before it was released
but wasn't fixed until after with a patch. To many to count I would say and
believe or not you'll find alot of things about NHRA you can *** and
complain about,I seriously doubt it will be that perfect. But since you are
so great and ***ing, why don't you make the perfect sim and get rich and
make everyone happy.I think more people post good messages about burnout
than bad things.I can recall to people complaining about the game so bad
that they didn't like it and thats you and Trevor ( who hasn't even tried
the game yet). This is not to flame you Greg r disrespect you in anyway and I
apologize now if it sounds that way,but I might be the only one thats tried
of hearing you *** and moan about a game you don't have anymore, but I
don't think I'm alone here.

DUH. Maybe if things are fixable I may re-purchase it again. Or
is that somehow not allowed?
I think we are getting to the real meat of the matter though. Imagine
a game called burnout championship drag racing. Um doesn't do
burnouts??? Oh ya that is just great. And I want to thank all of my
burnout beta testing pals for telling us about that before we bought
it. Obviously you knew but kept your mouths shut. I don't think that
is very good at all. It seems the beta testers are keeping the problems
quiet. What are we supposed to make of that?

Forgive me for asking, but, did you ever see a Top Fuel dragster do a
standing burnout? I don't think so. They do a rolling burnout. I have no
problem doing that at all in the game. I don't mean to sound like a jerk,
sorry if I do!! ;)
Greg yes we knew about the problem but didn't know the game was going to
released so quickily after we started testing it.It was a real suprise to us
and if we were tring to keep stuff to ourselves we wouldn't be posting
messages on how to do things like I have done and tring to help everyone out
now would we.I would also like to stat I'm not to sure we have the release
version we haven't received a realease version cd of the game that I know of
(I could be wrong).We have received 3 cds : Beta 2.0 , Beta 3.0, and Mplayer
test 1.0,and we have downloaded a couple beta updates and mplayer updates
from the Ftp site, for all I know you might have a competely different
version than me.We have not keep the problems quiet have have been posting
on here about Burnout for maybe 2 weeks now and have stated many problems we
have found with the game, but we sendd them to Bethesda first,so they can
start looking into a fix.Bethesda is doing a great job in my eyes they
already have a patch out for the software lockup problem, unlike many
companys you have to wait months at a time, then have to get a patch for a
patch (sounds like papyrus and N2 there <bwg). So please don't accuse us of
anything if you don't have proof,we are here to help everyone out and not
keep secerts to ourselves (sounds like some N2 and Ten beta testers don't it
JD <BWG).IF you have problems we will help I found this burnout trick last
night and posted it this morning and told everyone about it last night on
kali as soon as I found it.So chill out on the *** theories a little
please.

OKay.. let me solve this. Depending on the chassis, wheelbase and the amo
unt of power your combination has, will dependant on the burnout.
Now you ask, what?? If you have a given combination of 300hp in a G Body car, th
e car does a burnout easily. Now then, put a higher hp engine with the added more
weight, if you goto the "more cubic inches" route, the front end will be heavier
and still do a burnout more easily, correct?
NOW, if you don't play with the CG (Center of Gravity"), shocks, springs, this n
ew combination will be a "Totally" loss!1 As the the first 60ft of a drag race is
the most important, no?
When you start moving the CG back, horizontally, to the get the weight to move t
o the rear quickly and play with the CG of the vertical to lower the CG, the car
begins to "bite" more. To compensate this you play with the "shocks and springs".
Now then, if you ever look at a PRO class racer or a "high horsepower" vehicle,
usually over the "1000hp" mark with a killer "weight to power ratio", you notice,
that they stay in the bleach or burnout box, not very long and move "forward". B
ecause of the reaction time of the chassis transferring the weight to the rear of
the car.
Also, keep in mind the type of chassis your are using. Using a dragster vs a fun
ny car or any front engine car, will have a big difference of where the CG is!. Y
ou have to keep in mind where the majority of the weight is. And adust properly t
o get the car to "bite"..
For example, my 4.70s Dragster is nowhere near the settings of my Pro Stock car,
yet they both have 60 ft times in the .9xxx region at 80-81mph.
The way I have to do a burnout with the dragster is, set the line lock and trans
brake at the "torque peak" of my engine and hold it, when the smokes clear, I tur
n off the t-brake and line lock and let the car and come back to the staging lane
s. During this, the dragster is bellowing alot of smoke and moviing slowly up the
track.. Just what the they do in real life..
As for the P/S car, same type launch procedures, yet, the car stays in one posit
ion for a bit and then starts moving..Again, just like in real life..
It's really not a bug in the sim about the burnout. Most drivers "stereotype" th
e burnout as seeing it "one position" and not the other scenario.
Look how the PRO categories do a burnout.. vs, the "sportsman" racers doing ther
e burnout. See the difference. ??
So again, it's all in the suspension and CG. Keep in mind of the weights of the
chassis you are using.
Hmm.. Do have I to write another setup guide again??: )
take care

Nope you hit the nail on the head, A line lock whick only locks them skinny
ass front tires, ain't gonna keep a 4000+ hp beast from moving. ALL TF & FC do
a rolling burnout. Enable the tire slip gauge on the dash overlay and you'll
see yer spinning the tires.

Exactly. WTF are you doing with a line lock on a Funny Car? Top Fuel and
Funny Cars do NOT have line locks.

> Exactly. WTF are you doing with a line lock on a Funny Car? Top Fuel and
> Funny Cars do NOT have line locks.
The line lock looks purposes in REAL lift are the following:
1) To lock the front wheels for let the rear tires turn a couple of revolutions
in the water. Disengage the line lock and let the car roll FORWARD. Engage it aga
in, go at half throttle.. viola "Burnout"..
For TF and FC, they roll in the water, smack the gas (keep in mind that they are
NOT in WOT), let the car roll.. then hit the gas again. If they stay in the wate
r, the rearend would be swinging out. All cars do this. So you just want your tir
es "wet" then roll forward.
To continue with this, the TF/FC rolls forward and hits the gas at quarter or ha
lf throttle.. .. They can't have the engine at WOT during the burnout. When they
stage, the crew opens the throttle and does more adjustments..
2) Line lock being used for staging
3) Line lock being used on all four wheels. I did this back in my drag racings d
ays with my Buick Grand Nat'l.. A 10s street ride with 26mph!.. For high boost la
unches..
For my big block Buicks and Chevy cars the line lock, was in the front.
take care
