Twitchy wheel in F1RS

5 posts by 5 people · 22 Mar 1998 - 24 Mar 1998

I'm using a Thrustmaster T2 in F1RS and the thing keeps twitching to the right (perhaps Michael Schumacher has the same problem). I've tried recalibrating it both with the Windows control panel and Thrustmaster Propanel without any luck. Is there a fiendishly useful utility I can download to correct this? Tim Harrison

Its the potentiometer...firstly give it a blast of compressed air to clean out the dirt. If that doesn't work you'll have to replace it. Thrustmaster will send you one for free... www.thrustmaster.com /m On Sun, 22 Mar 1998 14:06:58 -0000, "Tim Harrison"

It is very likely that the steering pot on you wheel is dirty and could do with a little cleaning. To test this out, run Thrustmaster's TMScope and watch the calibration screen. If you see it "twitch" when you move the wheel to a certain location, it is usually a good sign of a dirty pot. Here is the URL for the TMScope program: ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/calibration/tmscope.exe To clean the pots on Thrustmaster products, get some Tuner/Switch Cleaner and Lubricant from an electronics supply store. Open up the housing on the unit and spray the insides of the pot (short for potentiometer). I usually direct the spray (via the tube extenstion for the spray nozzle) into the openings of the pot where the solder lugs are. Then move the wheel or pedal through its full range 4-6 times to work the cleaner over all the contacts. If the unit was acting up quite a bit, you may want to give it a second "cleaning" before sealing up the unit and heading back out to the track. There are pots for each pedal and for each lever on the back of the GP1 wheel. The latter can usually be cleaned by finding a "squarish" hole on the pot and directing the spray through the hole. You should be able to clean the pots for the levers without disassembling anything on your GP1, however to get to the steering wheel pot you will need to remove the housing cover of the wheel. [For the non-electronics or non-mechanical racers out there, the pot is the "silver" cylinder that the is directly behind the wheel inside the housing. It should have some wires connected to it and the wheel is connected its plastic shaft. There should be a "shaft" coming out of one end of the cylinder.] -- **************************** Michael E. The pots on your T2 are dirty or worn, clean them or get replacements by e-mailing Thrustmaster (there are usually free?) Why did you have to post the same message so many times? We heard you the first time, and you are just wasting valueable bandwidth, and people do not appreciate downloading the same message over and over again...... *Peter*

Hi, I had the same problem until I installed the patch v1.07. Hope that helps. Tadej Krevh
