I've tired both KALI and TEN lately, obvious TEN is the best net racing. There is still warp, but it hasn't bitten me yet. If you're serious about online racing, try TEN. You can test it out for five free hours, and if you have problems gettting it setup and go over the five hours they will understand and still let you cancel. I went with a bulk payment plan. For $40 I get three month's service, unlimited, instead of the $20 per month. I can get out of the contract after three month's. John wrote Actually since you raced on Heat.net you probably know what "extreme" warping is. TEN is 10times, no 20times less warping than Heat.net . You know, in 2-3 years, we will check back and say "Man the NROS was soooo before it's time". Same thing with Hawaii. We can't compare it to nothing existing to the moment. If your serious about online racing try ten?!? NOooo, TEN is good for arcades (sometimes) RPG... etc... games that don't require exact 'location' of an opponent(S) right now. modem racing or for a GREAT thrill with no latency, warping IPX racing if your serious about online racing. Right now... TEN and NROS is NOT the place for serious racing. It's ok for the arcade quality... but then some 'serious' NROS drivers are to serious for it to be just a game.

First of all, let me tell you that I raced online with IPX (Kali and heat.net), modem and on the NROS, and let me tell you that there is something wrong here. The NROS is possibily the highest form of enjoyment (sp?) you can have in the SimRacing community. Every F1RS, Gp2, SODA or Icr2 fans would love to have a system that would let them race against 20people and obviously more, with no warp. Sure there is some little problems. Rankings are not perfect. There is a need for more arenas. The BGN tracks aren't there yet. Some things need to be polished. But don't compare it to IPX. Sure IPX is maybe better if you are in a local network. But 4people is pretty boring. Especially after racing with 20 (and 32 on Hawaii). The NROS is just a little tiny more warps than perfect condition IPX. Heat.net racing is disastrous. You see humans jump everywhere on the track. Same thing on Kali. It's ok for Arcade quality ? What are you saying ??? Are you really on the NROS ? The NROS has some of the biggest serious people, people who live only for the NROS. Nim Cross, Mike Grandy, Rhawn Black, Andrew White, David Sparks, etc... (long list of at least 100people). Those guys raced at least 4000 to 5000laps on each track. Many of them are direct testers for Papyrus. You say it's too serious to be serious ? Welcome to the big leagues, fella. If you think that, your probably a Degahead... What's your screename on TEN ? The NROS is about 40% of TEN's income, and with that they developed an serious and solid Internet architecture. They are devoted to us, they know our needs. For what you are writing you obviously don't know 1 thing about the NROS. [snip] > Right now... TEN and NROS is NOT the place for serious > racing. It's ok for the arcade quality... but then some 'serious' > NROS drivers are to serious for it to be just a game. I disagree 100%! In fact, I have to wonder if you've ever even been on TEN and raced at all! With a decent connection, you can race against 19 human competitors and hardly notice you're online! Regarding the location problem you mentioned, all you have to do is play the game to realize this has been taken care of... I've never had a problem driving bumper-to-bumper, even at 200mph+ down the stretches at Talledega. NOW, I'm certain you've never been on TEN, but are just making a knee-jerk reaction based on uninformed assumptions! Another point about the "location" issue and Quake, for example, (or "arcades", as you call them) vs. N2: one thing I've heard is that in Quake your movements are extremely random and exist in three dimensions. In N2, your movement is much more predictable and exists in only two dimensions. Even if you're completely out of control, you'll still be limited by your momentum - you're never going to jump up, do a 180, and keep full speed, for example. This allows the prediction routines to be much more effective. I don't know if this is true (it makes sense, though), but I do know that NROS is the most technologically impressive game I've seen on the Net. It's not perfect, but it's by far the best. If you want the short argument, all you have to do is ask yourself where the best drivers race! Then, try out the free TEN trial and you'll be hooked. Sean

And here i thought it was ONLINE racing, meanign the net. Of course a direct connections is better, but then it's only one on one, or networked. Is that really fun? IMHO I'd take some minor defects to go against 19 others anyday. geo

I never said it wasn't dude. But it's not LEAGUE playable. Sure there are alot of LEAGUE's forming, but seriously... warps, boots etc. NOT the fault of the end user are serious problems for LEAGUE play. That was the question I answered. Duh?!? I gave alternatives... don't read between the lines, best read what is written. IPX, Modem racing are 'alternatives' to great no warp, boot racing. "The NROS is just a little tiny more warps than perfect contition IPX" ?!? Right, what ship did you warp out of? Tell the damn truth you bonehead! NROS/TEN is warp city, boot city still. "little tiny" you idiot. Quote me correctly you idiot. I said currently NROS on TEN is ok for arcade play... and not for serious league play. Until the obivious is fixed... it's an arcade game... simular to demolition derby as you at times have no clue who is going to appear in front of you or behind you or sometime in your car with ya on the track. It's a game you bonehead and a good game at that... but TEN and NROS is NOT up to par for serious simulated league racing. Who gives a ***who is who here. I've raced some of these people and beat them, (could of been the warp that helped too) I've raced your idiotic ass as well and let me tell you... practice off line dude! (or it could of been that warp again. but I swear you move like your using a joystick) By the way... I HATE Talledega... that's a track were your running so close that a warp will kill all 20 of ya... and it happens to often where 20 will start and by the end of ther race there maybe 3-4 left.

Big <grin>. I should had never went into the Dark Side of the Force. It was soo tempting. Show me the real stuff now ;-) . Actually something changed me from totally freak to cool funky guy. I enlisted myself into the Canadian Royal Air Force. I was going nowhere in my life, and I decided this for the good of myself. I am going in full-time around June-July probably. Since I'm in Duty 24hours per day, and having not many holidays, I will retire from my virtual racing career in not long. I will get out of online racing. I will get out of my website stuff. I will get out of r.a.s. for 14years <gulp> (5years of training+9years of service as an officer). I want to spend my last moment here having fun and helping people in the good way. I will actually miss all of you. I hope to return in time for Nascar9 ;-) John wrote >I would have to say thank you ymenard for the answer i was looking for..and not >talking about a farfetched topic not having any thing to do with my notes...i.e. >n2 track conversion...eeek the nightmares...thanks again y >See you in Victory Lane! >John Johnston <snipped> Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> Sponsored by http://www.awpss.com/ Good race at the Brickyard, (-o-) Official Mentally retarded guy of r.a.s.
