Flame warCanadian struggles to buy Richard Burns Rally

Poky asked how to buy Richard Burns Rally in Canada and whether he was forced to pirate it. Others pointed to eBay, budget releases and online retailers, but he rejected eBay and PayPal, and the exchange with Roger Longcock descended into insults and accusations of piracy. He eventually said he would buy a cheap copy from a UK store.

I'm in Canada and never see this game in the store. Why is that? Am I forced to pirate it to get a copy?

I've bough loads of stuff and never had a problem. Never and a problem with PayPal either. Personally, I think you're panicking over nothing very much in the way of real risk.

Oh yeah, all those scams about RBR, I forgot about them! The golden rule: if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

Well get a copy from a European seller on eBay and pay via paypal and get their protection. Look it up on google. > X-Planes went on in an hour and a half. Maybe you need a faster > system? > Still don't believe you. I made a fairly lenghty post about it in the flight sims group. I did need to update the firmware on my Samsung DVD-RW and that has doubled it's read speed but even still, on a dual layer disk DVD that is only 8X speed and X-Plane will still take about 3hrs. to install. My cpu is [email hidden]. You can't even buy a faster cpu than that and I doubt quad core will make it install faster. I posted a challenge to you too so I hope you go read it and take me up on the offer. Thanks for making me look into the issue though, would probably never have updated the DVD-RW firmware otherwise.

Just checked and RBR is still available from online retailers. Your definition of abandonware is also hugely suspect. http://www.amazon.com/001ric-Richard-Burns-Rally/dp/B00068UXW6

What do you mean, a book? I gave you a link to the RBR game dvd on amazon.com You said previously: "Fuck off and die already. I don't buy anything via Canada's toilet. Only online method for me to get RBR is via the US or Europe." So see me link to amazon and get it there. Or would you prefer to steal it? A quick seach for the game also turns up some European online retailers.

All ya gotta remember on eBay is: 1. Check the seller's feedback. If he has a large number of feedbacks and 98%+ are positive, then your odds of a good transaction are good. 2. Check item location. Make sure it's not in China or something. 3. Check shipping charges, make sure they're not going to charge $20 or something. Already have your PayPal account set up before bidding on eBay, and be sure you set up PayPal with the address you want things shipped to. PayPal and eBay sellers get cranky if you change shipping addresses on them. Other than that it's a piece of cake.

Not my fault you can't impart clear meaning with what you write. Did you steal a copy in the end?
LOL I love it.... you need to work in government. If I understand, you are talking about being forced into breaking the law?
