Let me know what you guys think of these screenshots. I think they look incredible! I wonder if the statement at the bottom is correct? The part that says "Release fall". I wish we could get our hands on this one a little sooner:) I am a huge auto sim fan and always have been and I should be getting my Voodoo2 12 meg board tommorow. My question is, I have played MotoracerGP(demo) months ago on my 3dfx card but know with the new Voodoo2 chip this game would be great, is the full version worht the purchase? Anyways heres the URL for the NEW motocross game by Micrsoft. http://www.pcgamer.com/previews/p_motorcross.html Tony Gaylord - Portland,OR

Check out the picture of the track editor- it looks just like the one in Papyrus' SODA Off Road Racing. Hmmm, this could maybe work out, if they could just copy Papy in almost every aspect of the game, it might turn out half way decent...Naaaahhhh. You notice it also says it runs in their Direct3D API, so say goodbye to framerate. If they would only admit defeat and port to Glide, they might have a shot at writing something that wasn't so code heavy it can't get out of it's own way. There, I feel a _little_ better now. OH BOY!!!!!! Another Microsoft racing title. I wonder how buggy this one will be. Perhaps the computer riders will go 50 feet down the track, and fall of their bikes, and then we'll all have to shell out another 50 bucks for version 2.0 of the game, to get a fix...... Microsoft should stick to doing things like Windows 98, and leave racing sims to companies who are commited to releasing a quality product, instead of rushing to release a half assed game Just my opinion

OR Oh, and how is glide helpful to the majority of people without 3dfx? Z.

Problem is: even with D3D you are able to achive reasonable frame rates, if you know HOW to code... and switching to Glide doesn't have to improve anything if you don't KNOW... ;^) "Testing our Glide port we didn't see any major improvement in frame rate!" How helpfull is Glide to the people that don't have 3dfx? If you don't have a 3dfx board by now, you need to get one! If you haven't played a nice sim such as F1RS with a 3dfx card, your missing some serious realism. My 12meg Voodoo2(3dfx) card is coming in today and I'll be doing some reviews here on F1RS,Toca,CPR and a few others on the Voodoo2 board with my P200/32meg system. Take care.......... > Let me know what you guys think of these screenshots. > Tony Gaylord - Portland,OR The shots look great but I have two questions: 1. Frame rate. 2. Control. CPR would have been a great game if it had better control. As for frame rate, a person shouldn't have to run a 300 mhz PII just to play a computer game. If a game doesn't run fast on my system, a 200 mhz non-MMX Pentium with 64 megs SDRAM and R3D, then I'm not going to buy it. Later, Rich

I have a Orchid Righteous now, and a V2 on the way. My simple point is no one should be authoring for Glide only. I don't live in fear of the day that 3dfx might be surpassed, i welcome it. More competition is great for the *** hardware market. I'd personally rather see Direct3D going further as a standard. OpenGl has laughable support from Card manafactures at the moment, and there is so many differect people out there with all kinds of different hardware that nailing stuff down to native API's is naive. Look at Papyrus and their rendition only SODA Disaster. Z.

And i should have added: When Glide & 3dfx is beaten down, which will happen sooner or later noone can quite figure yet how AGP going to change things and when, Where that leaves older "classic" games. I sure as hell hope that it leaves them with D3D support. Not some damn native API only. Z.

This I will look on with GREAT interest :) -- We are the Hosh! You will be assimilated! Lower your defences and surrender! Your technological and biological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Your culture will be adapted to service us. Resistance is futile. Have a nice &*($ing day!

According to one of the Voodoo sites, (either op3dfx.com or voodooextreme.com), there is a problem with Voodoo2 running MotoRacer. If it is true, I'm sure a patch will soon follow. You might want to check out the above mentioned sites for news of a fix. mike
