" F1 by Visiware NEW SCREENSHOTS "

Well, I see that according to Sim Racing News, F1 from Visiware is getting ready for a release period. The screenshots look pretty nice but what do you think its going to compare with F1RS? My bet is on my Voodoo2(when it arrives;) and F1RS. I mean, F1RS ran great with the tweaks to the game on my P200/32megs/Monster3d system but with Voodoo2...... it's going to be great. However, check out the screenshots : http://www.visiware.com/start.htm What do you think of this release by Visiware? Tony Gaylord - Portland, OR

I looked at all 14 3DFX screen shots, and I think I'll stick with Ubi's F1RS. Something about F1 from Visiware just doesn't do anything for me. It does look a little arcadish, just doesn't seem to have the spectacular looks F1RS does, but it's pretty close. I'll be willing to bet the driving model probably won't be that good. I could be wrong, though.....we'll know as soon as people buy it and post here....I'm not rushing to the store or anything though. Craig Marcho
No it isn't. Just look at the bad graphics for the cars. The wheels seem to be floating around the rear of the cars, some shots the cars mid section of the front wing seems to be missing, the cars are too flat, background is mediocre... I'll pass on it... And looking at the Veloci-meter in the bottom right corner, it ain't a sim... F-1 by Psygnosis rates better IMO. Off course, F1-RS is King. "Is that a cigarette you're smoking?" "No, it's a chicken." Jeez, now we're not even giving companies a CHANCE to be ***before deciding that they are? Open mind? Closed book. Cheers! John

Hee hee ! ;-) It's like seeing a Formula1 picture and say "Boy this car is going fast", but in real it's getting out of his pitstop... Visiware seems aware of the situation, they monitor this newsgroup, and if they want to do an arcade-style game well what's the problem with that ?? They have a market, not mine but still a big market. Oh those pics are about 1year old, and visiware SURELY updated his racing game with new features and some good testing. Those are not new screenshots... Ok guys, check this address: http://www.cplus.fr/html/multimedia/prost/prost_gp.htm this Visiware F1 game name Prost Grand Prix and take a look at those screenshots, if he game looks that good graphically, it's going to be better than F1RS Bye Coco

Sounds like version2 will be AP GP 2001 then? ANyone know if it's an Arcade or sim. Would an Arcader take this long to develop? Brian -- remove 'bye' from address to reply
I would say that the screenshots are cut from video sequences, not from the actual gameplay. Yeah, you'd think that Geoff Crammond wrote F1RS or something ;)

I didn't intend to imply any comment would be accurate of worthwhile, just as screenshots are not a valid or worthwhile indicator of a good simulation. -- Suck The Goat

Yeah, well this may be one game I could run, unlike the memory/money hungry F1RS Tom P.S.- don't flame me for that

The graphics look to be a notch below F1RS. If the car dynamics are superior it will do well. I have been holding back from buying F1RS until I read the glaring faults are fixed: slow grass, etc.. Keith. -- please remove _spam from e-mail address when replying
% The graphics look to be a notch below F1RS. If the car dynamics are superior % it will do well. I have been holding back from buying F1RS until I read the % glaring faults are fixed: slow grass, etc.. This is not meant to be a flame, but if we all wait for the one sim without some "glaring faults" as you point to, it could be years before we install a new sim on our machines. To date, EVERY racing sim has had some "glaring faults". GP2 (and probably GPL) = No Rain, ICR/N1/ICR2/N2 = Walls where they don't exist, CPR = Artificial Non-Intelligence, etc., etc. Sometimes we must accept certain compromises made by sim developers. The only way to avoid this is to code your own. Too bad there isn't a programming standard for sims. This way we could mix and match the elements from different sims. Imagine the almost perfect sim we could have. But, even then I fear there would be some glaring faults preventing us from accepting that sim. -- **************************** Michael E.
