Wait for gp2 patch or buy f1rs?

Hello all. I was just wondering what I should do: 1. Wait for a gp2 patch or gp3 (I have heard all kinds of gossip about gp3. Is Microprose really working on this game or is this just a rumor? If true, then when is the game due out?) 2. Buy f1rs and have to get used to a whole new feel for the car. To me it would seem almost impossible for another game to be better than gp2 in terms of car realism. RC

For you stick to GP2.... For me I have the five minute board at Spa and its just starting to drizzle, Im wishing that I would have put the wets on and hoping that I can get thru Eau Rouge without making a face plant into the guard rail....Im wondering if one of the young wonders behind me is gonna make a banzai charge taking me out of my hard won spot in 7th position. Im wondering if the rain is gonna last. The FOG looks wonderful, but I think its gonna clear....OOOH MY. Im wondering how in the heck someone releases a Formula 1 simulation without rain....then Im not worrying about it cause Im driving the New King of F1 Simulations. F1 Racing Sim....not a bad first effort...after all knocking off a couple of GODS... You go Ubisoft...<VBG> And if I was Papy and Geoff I would be worried, very worried about the Addon to F1 Racing sim F1 98....be very worried. Hi GP2 is the game I have played most. (Played it _a lot_) Then I got F1RS, and after that I got the T3 wheel from Thrustmaster.............. Then the other day I wanted to try GP2 with my new wheel, it was fun BUT.............I deleted GP2!!!!!!!!! And yes, I dont want to play GP2 ever again.!!!!!!! (Never thought I should hear myself say that) Do I have to say more? Jakob Baunsgaard http://home4.inet.tele.dk/rain/f1rs/ Bob Connor skrev i meddelelsen t>...

I wouldn't hold my breath, but I haven;t played f1rs either, but I plan on getting it as soon as I can. t>...

How many years has GP2 been out? How many patches have there been? How many will there be??? Microprose has stated even in this ng that they have no plans at this time to do a GP3. If you hold your breath, you'd better notify next of kin. (answers to above: 2-0-0) Dave Henrie #99b TPTCC

No patch for GP2 (sorry, this is pretty old stuff). Buy F1RS, and when/if GP3 hits the streets, buy it too. In as far as "car realism", I hear GPL (Papyrus) will raise the bar for physics futher than any sim previous. Cheers! Marc

Microprose is making GP3. They just don't want to admit it so their not dedicated to a release date like GP2.

Granted, lack of rain is a major***up, but then Microprose have always been adept at screwing up and ******* the consumer. As for F1RS being the new king, maybe, but what use is a king who most people can`t use? The system requirements for that game are insanely high. Sure, eye candy is nice, and rain would be nice, but all this 3D accelerator ***is getting out of hand. GP2 FOREVER! Geoff Crammond has always been, and will continue to be GOD!:-) Ubi can stick it. hehe...oh Geoff worshiper....you worship false idols.<G,D & R> Wait how did Microprose***up....sounds like ole Mr. God couldnt get rain to run fast enough with HIS engine. Then decided to never update the game to take advantage of the technology. hehe..the people without 3d cards are always saying stuff like this....all I can say is ooh boy I hope it gets farther out of hand....cause Im liking it. And before you start giving me the eye candy vs substance lecture please be aware that I MIGHT be the formost authority of that on the flight sim group...considering Ive been flying an Untextured sim (Su-27 Flanker) for over 2 years. 3D cards are the single best piece of hardware to come out in the last two years....aside from faster processors. Oddly enough, you are clueless about 3D cards then. Get a 3D card other than 3dfx and it will get out of hand as you say. You 2 should make a nice couple. I don't know what your basic problem is (Prozac?) but you are just trolling for flames. You do look like quite the fool. -- Header address intentionally scrambled to ward off the spamming hordes.

The system requirements for that game are insanely high. >Sure, eye candy is nice, and rain would be nice, but all this 3D >accelerator ***is getting out of hand. Uh huh. So, probably a bunch of people upgraded their CPU when GP2 came out so you could get half-decent framerates with it. Cost? Say $200-500, depends when. Nowadays, you can buy a 3dfx for $150 or less and get more bang for your buck (heck, I'm still using a P133). So, which one had "insanely high" req'ts for its time? And for a decent framerate, with both at near graphic equality, which would cost more in upgrades to get it to to be competitive now? So, go on and continue to buy the latest and greatest CPU to play the next gen of games (this has always been the case). And don't buy a 3D accelerator that costs half as much, and gives you more. Makes sense to me... As soon as he learns how to program a game that doesn't fix framerate and understands that some people like to race in REAL TIME.

Since has yet to be released, and weather options were never intended to make it into the sim, how then do they drop the ball? Granted, if Papy promised rain, and then it turned out to be nothing more than eye candy (or something poorly implemented), then yes; they would have certainly dropped the ball IMHO. Personally, I'm more interested in the subtle nuances of a fine driving model, rather than complicating an already difficult situation with slick tarmac. ;) > Unless of course you take into account the physics that need > to be modeled for changing weather.
