F1RS-VooDoo Card ?

3 posts by 3 people · 18 Jan 1998 - 18 Jan 1998

When I went to download the Demo version of F1RS its says it 's minimum requirements is a VooDoo Graphics Card? Is that true? I have a HP P166 with a S3 card. It seems this sim has a lot of followers and I'm surprised at its requirements? What about it ? Anyone out there running F1RS with a basic pentium without one of the high end graphics cards ? Tim D.

The Voodoo Graphics card is needed for the demo of F1RS (it utilizes the GLide API). The full retail version has a D3D option which is a protocol some S3 chips will run. From what I understand, though, its that you still need a 4MB graphics chip even for the D3D. This may make F1RS unplayable on your system. You may want to consider a vodoo graphics card (Canopus Pure 3D, Diamond Monster 3D, etc.) especially for all the games which are being released these days. Ben

There are several sims out there which require a Voodoo. At a bare minimum for new sims your system should be able to at least support D3D. You may not like it...but it may be time to buy some new pieces... dave henrie
