I seem to have problem running GP2 using keyboard control. Whenever
I try to accelerate, I can hear the continuous beep sound from my PC
speaker. My F1 car cannot accelerate due to the sound. I'm using a
Dell Dimension P2 266 PC. My friend has the same problem with mine
but it's ok when he uses the joystick. I'm very used to joystick in
playing racing games. Anyone has any idea how to solve this problem?

Just a shot in the dark, but check the "typematic" rate in your BIOS
setup. It maybe set at the wrong speed.

I installed GP2 on my Dad's new Dell Inspiron notebook and got the same
result. I just received a new Dell Latitude notebook from my employer and
it worked fine. So, I'm not sure if it's a Dell issue. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.

Maybe someone at Dell is like me and wants to make sure no one
destroys a sim like GP2 by using it with the keyboard. Why Geoff, why do
you let them do it?????????????
The keyboard certainly doesn't do it justice, but on business trips, it's
better than no racing at all!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I dunno? I think I'd opt for somthing like Hero's of
Might and Magic II or Civ II. Btw, are we talking about whilst in flight
or what? Head/ear phones? If not, what do the other passengers think of
all the noise? Or do they become real spectaters and add to the
realism? :)
I used to play Duke Nukem on the plane but got so many horrified looks I
had to stop.

>2. Because not everyone is stupid enough to think that playing GP2 by keyboard >(and being FAST) is >a) easy >b) no fun at all >Grab that wheel and leave us keyboard drivers alone... ;-)Maybe I'm just hopeless, but the difference made by a wheel, compared
to either keys or a stick, was *enormous*.
Like, 2 different games. One (er, two?) I can't play at all, one
(+wheel) I'm quite good at.
Applies to most racers, imho. Best eg. I can think of is Fatal Racing
(US: Whiplash) - I never could complete certain levels via keys/stick,
but managed fine with a wheel. I know it ain't a sim, but the point's
valid, I think. S'all about control.

(re-converted racer - why is it I could cope with F1GP on the Amiga?:)

We're not talking here about the "let ourselves drive by the game" variety of
keyboard driving. We're talking about the no-aids driving.(except the aids that
you can not turn off with keyboard, which means steering help and opposite lock)
So, put your hands on that keyboard and turn off autogears, ideal line,
suggested gear, autobrakes, spin recovery, invulnerability and, most of all,
TRACTION HELP. Enjoy "the game driving the car for you" and return here to tell
us how easy it all is and the supertimes you realised...
I'm serious! Give it a try so you have some foundation for your claims instead
of talking rubbish.
I'm waiting for your times.....And not too long, because obviously it can't take
you very long to master this piece of cake ;-)
(And DON'T dare to come back with, say, an Imola time above 1m20s)
This whole discussion inspired me to write a little "essay" on the importance of
control methods for racing games. I want it to start up its own thread, so I
posted it under a new subject. You might be interested; see you over there :-)

What shall I give up this month, diapers or the kids lunch money to
buy a wheel setup. Though a thought occurs. For sale or trade for T2
one ***ager or 2 kids under five :)
