CPR my opinion

Ok, here goes. I got CPR for Christmas, so I've had it for a little over a week now, and have a opinions on the game, both good and bad. First the good, the CPR team came up with some really great ideas for a racing game. The head panning feature is one that before playing the game, I thought I would not like. But after putting on quite a few laps on both road courses and ovals, I really like this feature. I feel it seems to make finding the best line through the corners easier. The race engineer is another feature I love. This makes tweaking your setups much easier for lead foots like myself. The way they animated the pitstops is very cool, although not really much more than eye candy. There are a few other things that I like, but for now I'll move to the low points. First and probably one of the biggest problems of the game is the terrible frame-rate. When I first got CPR I was running on a P200 mmx with 32mb ram, with no 3d acceleration. The frame-rate sucked to say the least. After 3 days like this, I went out and bought a Monster 3d card(which I have since fallen in love with by the way). After installing the card, the game runs and looks much better. But, I still experience the game getting a little sticky from time to time. The other BIG problem with CPR is the computer cars AI, quite frankly I find it terrible. The computer cars seem to have problems driving around all of the tracks. If they aren't driving into walls, it seems as though they are driving into the back of your car when you pass them. Another low point is when you pause the game, the CPR team should have taken note of how Papy. sims work when it comes to this. I don't like having to try to make adjustments to my car on the fly, especially when driving road courses. Bad, bad, evil things happen to me when trying to make adjustments on the fly. Now as far as the patch goes, I'd like to see the game patch real fast like everyone else. But the CPR team SHOULD TAKE THEIR TIME WITH THE PATCH!!! I want the patch to fix all major problems with the game, and if they try to rush it's release(which is what I think they did with the game it self, hence all the bugs) the patch will not get the job done. This game has what it takes to be one of the all time greats, if they can fix the bugs with the patch. Thanx for taking the time to read this, feel free to send any comments on what I wrote. More than 32 MB of RAM is necessary. My system is set up like yours, except that I have 48 MB. Is fast when playing CRP. A 3D card is a must for playing CPR. Have you ever watched the instant replay with your 2D card, it sucks. -- Victor Chan
