Man this thing is awesome! Me personally i cant get a whole lap in without
overshooting some turn. What times are you getting?
Lap times in the GTR demo at Spa
Drivers posted Lister Storm lap times at Spa in the GTR press demo, mostly from 2:13 to 2:18, compared with real FIA GT pole times of about 2:15. Tips included taking Eau Rouge flat, enlarging brake ducts and adjusting brake bias, and Joachim Trensz shared a setup. J. Todd Wasson later reported a 2:13.2.
Automated summary.
2:17.7 with the default setup and all aids off in the Lister. I'm able to
take Eau Rouge flat out in 6th at about 147 mph!

Increase your brake duct size it helps alot and monitor you brake
temperature.

messing around with Motec and of the 3 laps I ran I would have hit 2:13 sec
when it added all the best sector times of the 3 laps together, lol.
Anybody notice you leave marks on the wall after a hit?

That's just crazy! :) I'm at a somewhat inconsistent 2:18 (prolly 2:16 with
three dececnt sectors), but it took a bunch of setup tweaking.
Alan
2:17.5 since I posted (compared to the 2:15's posted by others its still
slow). Everytime I try to "tweak" the default setup I go much slower ;)
The more laps I turn though the more I "feel" where Im messing up. Once I
get the track and car feel down then Ill reconsider "tweaking" hehe.

2:16.6, but still on my own setup. I tried the default setup again, and
it's 1-2 secs slower for me. Judging from the +/- intervals, I could
possibly drive as quickly with it, but not with any consistency. I can do
several 2:17s with my setup until I mess up under braking and go off.
For mere mortals such as myself, the default setup -is- less worrysome to
drive, especially when trail braking. It might also be great for very long
stints. In any case, it still comes down to me tweaking to reach 2:15 which
others quickly reached with the default setup. Just another reminder that
I'm slow. :)

A really quick driver will make a hot lap setup, not make the mistakes I
made :-) , and spend a lot more hours running laps than most of us will ever
have the time for. Actually, I bet you'll see some 2:11's evnetually.

I was way slow in the bus stop. Generally after around a 100 practice laps
anywhere I can get some consistency and speed. Before that mark it's either

Nailed a 2:15.6 with a 2:15.7 right after, and I'm actually using the
default setup now. It's taken me a few more than 58 laps though. :)
Admittedly, I'm also cutting the left hander a bit coming out of Eau Rouge.
Wonder if I'll be able to keep pace as your time improves. We seem to be
dropping at about the same rate.
On a related note, I think the FF has contributed a LOT to the experience
and me coming to grips with the car. I don't know how the non-FF folk do
it. The weight of the wheel when the front tires are fairly well hooked up
is a great feeling. Scares me to think what an alien might be capable of
with the additional feedback. I can't wait for BRD to release the Speed7.
The GTR demo has me convinced I need one. :)
Alan
2:15.3 last night at lap 113 but it's getting MUCH harder to improve the
times now. I'm getting pretty consistent though and it seems Im getting my
fastest laps around 5-6.
I downloaded a qual setup/replay from BHMS where the driver turned a
2:10.x. (or 2:11 dont exactly remember). For the most part my braking
points were similar but he got a GREAT run coming outta Stavelot which let
him carry a ton more speed up the long straight. He rode the kerb all the
way through and was able to keep it floored where I still have to blip. I
didnt care for the setup much though and quickly went back to the default.
Yea I dont see how you can get a really fast lap keeping all four tires
within the kerbs all the way around and Eau Rouge is the perfect example.
Ive shortened the bus stop a bit more also ;)
I also agree about the FF. It just feels right and gives a ton of feedback.
Can't imagine not having it. On a similar note F1C/mods always had much
much better FF than the Papy NRx series where I nearly have to turn it off.
Ive been keeping an eye on the Speed7 as well but Ive got two Momo Force's
to wear out first and neither has worn at all (or negligible) in over a year
so it looks like Im ok for awhile still.
I smell a 14 coming soon :))

Keeping track of everything you spend's a great way of learning
to stretch your money if you don't have a lot. I can seriously recommend
it to anyone, whether it's anal or not :-)
Andrew McP
I finally got 2:15.9 after about five hours of driving and setting up the
car. I also managed a 2:19.something which included a 360 spin in the bus
stop... :/
The default setup understeered way too much for my liking, so I ended up
reducing the front antiroll-bar and the diff locking (both coast and power).
That at least seemed to help, or then it had a purely psychological
effect... I've also gradually moved the brake balance more to the rear, and
I'm currently at 51/49 (f/r) and I'm still getting no instability while
braking. I actually find that kinda odd, 'cause in GPL I'm in deep trouble
if I set the front bias below 54%, even with a non-alien diff.

The player comes preset with that PB. You can manually reset it to some
ridiculously high figure, and your next outing will populate it with one of
your times. It's the SIM_GT2003.bch file in the player directory assuming
you drive the Lister in Sim mode.
