IMSA World Championship Racing... WTF????

3 posts by 2 people · 05 Dec 1997 - 07 Dec 1997

Upon searching around the web for some more "hidden" info about Grand Prix Legends, stumpled upon something strange... Namely two promo-videos (Mov-files) for a game called IMSA World Championship Racing. Does anyone know anything about this game?? Was it ever released? Is it a coming title? Basiclly...what the heck is this all about?? The videos shows a bunch of clips from various tracks.. Laguna Seca, a Tri-oval (superspeedway?), something that looks like a reversed Suzuka and something that could be Surfers Paradise or Long Beach at evening or night.. its hard to tell cause the video quality is kinda poor.. Anyway I've successfully managed to identify 4 of the cars (all WSC's), and it seems like you're able to choose between the '96 Daytona 24hrs and Sebring 12hrs winning Danka sponsored R&S MkIII Oldsmobile, a Ferrari 333SP, Courage C41 or something i think might be a Mazda powered Kudzu (same livery like the one they won LeMans with in '91) The "game"/sim looks kinda "arcadish" i've spotted features like rolling starts, turboflashes (!!), shift-lights, brake-lights, locking brakes and cars that get airborne (i.e. roll) after crashing out !! So what happend to this game ?? Was it scraped after IMSA changed name or something??? Please if you know anything - let me know!!!! -- Edwin Solheim, Norway http//:home.sol.no/~solhmrek "Early on, the cars were getting faster and faster.
