So, how is it?
I sent a post to sim bin, and also to BRD, to discuss the possibility of
software controlled range of motion locks on BRDs new wheel. I believe itd
be very cool to have (as in real life for alot of race cars) a steering
wheel whos degrees of rotation lock to lock is dictated by the steering
ratio that is set in the garage.
BRD said it was a cool idea (im paraphrasing), but i didnt get any response
from sim bin, so im assuming that its been designed to be driven using the
standard 270degree msff and momo wheels et al.
im on a logitech driving force pro (900 degrees here) but my p3 550 dont
like gtr (im way below min spec - no worries).
Im thinking that unless a software controlled locking mechanism can be
instituted into the games and the hardware, then we're either going to be
lumped with wheels that turn to much or too little.

Very nice, but I currently limit the usable range to 360 degrees. I may try
more, but right now, I don't think I need it. As for FF, the DFP feels
great though still probably not as smooth as the MOMOs. Still, I don't
notice the notchiness at all like I sometimes do in NR2003. SimBin has done
a great job with FF.

That would be cool. At least BRD's will have adjustable lock to begin with.
The game would have to have adjustable degrees of lock, steering ratio, and
the ability to specifiy turns lock-to-lock available. Actually, that'd be
the best way to support wheels like the DFP, regardless of whether or not
the game were to adjust the "stops."

Yeah, GTR isn't much different from F1C in that respect. Increasing the max
available degrees of lock would be a step in the right direction. That way,
the DFP could be left to use all 900 degrees, and degrees of lock could
effectively control the steering sensitivity.

As I said above, a suitable compromise could be reached without such
mechanisms. It just requires a little more configurability in the games.

BTW, I'm currently using the MOMO Force preset in GTR, 100% force on the
wheel, and 100/0/50 for overall, spring, and damper strengths in Control
Panel.
