Recently purchased NASCAR2 and am totally familiar with NASCAR1 and its Paintshop capabilities but lack full understanding for NASCAR2. The NASCAR2 Users Guide has no explanation on how to use the Export/Import shown on the bottom control board of the Paintshop Paint Car screen. 1. Can one "export" a car so it can be painted with another paint program? 2. Can other cars be "imported" to replace an existing one? 3. In NASCAR1, cars can be swapped within the Paintshop Program, - can this be done with NASCAR2 Paintshop? 4. In NASCAR1 Paintshop, decal items etc. could be cut and copied from one car and placed on another, - can this be done in NASCAR2 Paintshop? Finally, how does one change the "position" of drivers in the Entry List? For example: Moving a drivers' name from position number 1 to say position number 5 and vice versa? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Can one "export" a car so it can be painted with another paint program? Yes, like N1 the PCX will be exported to your root Nascar2 folder. Yes, but the naming convention is different than N1. Once in the paintkit, press the import button to see the name of the PCX Nascar2 is looking for (for The Player it will be XT_PLAYE.PCX). Once you know the name, rename your PCX and place it in your Nascar2 folder. Not really. Again, not really. In the original version you'd have to start a new list with the correct order, but with the version 1.03 patch you can move drivers up and down the list. FYI, you always drive the first car listed. -- Eric T. Busch http://ebusch.akorn.net

Can one "export" a car so it can be painted with another paint program? Yes, it will be placed in the nascar2 directory (not the cars subdirectory) and will have the same name as the car but with an x in front of it (ie, 'john's car will export to xjohn.pcx) Yes, the car and pit colours that is. Make sure that the pallette is ok though, export a car and make sure that the car you plan to import has the same pallette. The pit sign will be the roof design of the car. No. Nascar 2 has got rid of the car set thing. each car is it's own and to make a set you make a new list and put all the cars you want into that list. No, it's really annoying, but if you want to do that, you'll have to export both cars and cut and paste externally. you have to remove that driver from the list (the < arrow in between the drivers and the current list) then remove all the drivers including and after the position you want to put the new driver in, put him in and then put all the others back. > Any info would be appreciated. > Thanks That's Ok, hope it helps. BTW, I asked this a while ago, and didn't get a response: Why are the cars, in the paintshop, not symetrical? As a followup to moving drivers' names on the entry lists, - presume you already know about using the "<" or ">" to move names up or down on the list and to use the "A" to sort names on the entry lists by name, and "S" to sort names on the entry lists by number.

Can one "export" a car so it can be painted with another paint program? Yes, it works the same as N1. Only if the file name for the car you want is changed to the one you want to replace. Not with paint shop. See #5 for more. If it can be done I haven't come across it yet. You can get a Data pack\unpack program at http://www.theuspits.com/archive.html that will allow you to alter the Decal stamp. This program "decompresses" your layout.dat file allowing you to use a graphics program to cut and paste from the cars you exported. Once you have done the altering pack it up and copy the dat file back to N2. Also get the Paintkit assistant by Chris Frederick. That will help with the paint process. Only advice that I can give is create a copy of the dat file in case something goes wrong. You will find many pcx files in the layout.dat including the dash which you can "personalize" with your own logo. There is also another addon for changing the dash, rollbars, colors, etc. The link can be found at http://www.public.usit.net/stempty/ You will want to use N2 Headquarters by Dane Johnson also found at THE PITS archive page. I haven't used it too much but when I did I wish I had it from the start. I haven't found anything that wasn't worth the download time at THE PITS I am sure uf there is more someone will let you know. Have Fun.
