Screamer 3dfx patch won't work

7 posts by 6 people · 01 Dec 1997 - 09 Dec 1997

I d/l from operation 3dfx, put it into my main S2 directory, ran it, and it says FATAL ERROR: UNBALE TO LOAD DLL what can I do about this? please reply
I can't get it to work at all either. I re-installed (full install) S2 and put the new file in the S2 folder and ran it. It locks the computer hard right after the 3DFX logo comes up. I have tried it with all different configurations --- no go. (I get no error message) If you get it to work, let me know how... Jeff

I did exactly you as you did and it runs great no errors or problems! I have DirectX 5.0, FLASH3D, 64 megs, latest 3DFX drivers can't think of anything else can you?

Are you running from WIN95? Mine wouldn't work until I went back into WIN95. I was in MS-DOS mode but no go. Sal V.

I did a fresh install, 100 megs, placed the file in my S2 directory and dblclicked from WIN 95! I have no 3DFX logo. It just comes up with the demo and goes. I have a 166 with Monster and all the latest files...except 109. Runs CPR SLOWER for me. So I'm at 108. Really worth the effort. There are a lines between the road textures, but the frame rate more than makes up for it. Well worth any effort you need to get it to work!!! -=Don=-

Thanks for all your replies, Another reader emailed me the solution: You need to install the 65k colors version (I had only installed the 256) and also place glide2x.ovl in the S2 folder... That did the trick. Jeff

I got this problem too.. You need to copy all the files from the cdrom GFX directory into the c:\s2\gfx directory it actually errors, I unplugged my monitor from the Monster 3d and plugged it into my video card, and heh presto CANNOT FIND FILE .... Hope this works, I was looking forward to playing S2 with this patch, and it p......ed me off for a day whilst I worked it out Good Luck
