Heyo, Just wondering if everyone is missing brake rotor glow in GTR, or if it's just me? F1C had it, so I figured GTR would implement it with the ISI engine too. But, i guess they never implemented it with GTR2002. I thought maybe it's something I missed in a graphic option, or something in an .ini or .plr file.. -- Mike Beauchamp http://www.therevox.com - custom electro-theremins and stuff. http://www.mikebeauchamp.com - mike's personal site.

I hadn't even looked at that...wasn't the rotor glow in the previous ISI sims more of a graphic hack than a virtual glow? I would not be too concerned with what features are in the demo...certainly there will be things in the final package we haven't seen yet...and some things in the demo may not make the final cut either. dave henrie

I didn't even know that F1C had that. But then again, I don't spend much time looking at replays... The glow in the previous ISI sims was fairly well done, it was an actual glowing ring that illuminated quite nicely, and fairly accurately.. meaning, you'd only usually see it glow usually on the corners you notice the real F1 broadcasts showing glowing. Unlike when I tried CMR4, and every press of the brakes made the suckers light right up. And yeah, you're right.. just a demo.. Not even a "planned" demo probably at that. -- Mike Beauchamp http://www.therevox.com - custom electro-theremins and stuff. http://www.mikebeauchamp.com - mike's personal site. See, I find the replays to be my main "reward". I've watched probably hours of Rally Trophy replays for example. I know a lot of people here are crazy about the fastest times and stuff, but I just really like doing a nice clean smooth accurate lap/race/stage. Then sit back and watch the replay... That's how I play sims.. I'm not much into the whole tweak-the-setup to exploit the physics engine somehow to turn abnormally fast laps for bragging rights. So, stuff like brake rotor glow just makes it all just a little more rewarding.. -- Mike Beauchamp http://www.therevox.com - custom electro-theremins and stuff. http://www.mikebeauchamp.com - mike's personal site. Same here. It's also probably one of the reasons Papy sims and Mobil 1 RC get bonus points from me. I hate the replay systems in pretty much every other sim. Jason

I actually thought GP3/4 had quite nice replays. I remember one time while I was working on something else I setup a race with AI players only and watched the 'virtual' race from the TV director view.

I use replays for their 'learning' value. If I'm trying to improve, I'll watch another driver's replay in the hopes of gaining speed. I haven't done that with F1C(or N2K3 for that matter). Don't know why - maybe I've subconsciously given up on going faster in those two... Add SBK2001 to that list, too! On the brake rotor glow, doesn't PTC have the best out there? IIRC, it comes on progressively, and fades as the brakes cool. Have to do a few burnouts with the brakes on in GTR and see what happens. I'm sure it'll make it into GTR - the demo is hardly the finished product. Kendt

I think GP4 was pretty underrated as a sim overall (he says while putting on his one-piece flame retardant race suit). Cranking up the replay time and doing a full race was great, especially with the gpx digital tv displays. Eerily like watching a real race sans commentary. Jason

I liked it, but could never get a decent fps on a Pent. 1.4, so got rid of it. Probably a few fixes out now to help I guess.
