Test Drive 4 won't run, suggestions?

Wish I did, but I get a very similar problem. I can go thru all the selections but when it comes time to race I can here the starter's voice, but only get a blank screen. Abit PX5 Orchid R3D SB32PNP

I had the same problem, then updated the glide driver with the version that's in the dload and all is well. Has anyone tried making the turn down the intersecting roads yet? RH

I posted this to 3dfx.discussion: I had quite the problem getting it to run as well. Either the black screen with sound, or blackscreen from the get go. I solved number two. There was a message hidden in a window that said "vxd error, expected 1.2 got 1.1" or something like that. There is only one vxd, fxmemmap.vxd. A search turned up some 15 copies, mostly in install files I had for trying to solve this problem...but...there was one each in windows and windows\system. They were different versions. I removed all the copies and put in a fresh one in windows from glide 2.43. Viola! I guess glide install puts it in one of those dirs, but windows searchs the other path first. I have had this happen with other windows files before. After fixing this both problems disappeared. Good Luck -=Don=-

I had the same problem. I installed the new Glise drivers and then it worked fine. Well, the way it's suppose to work I suppose.......not too good.
