Bizarre problem w/NASCAR race game

1 post by 1 person · 25 Sep 1997 - 25 Sep 1997

: I'm having a bizarre problem with NASCAR Racing (the 1994 version). : After installation, I set up the sound card, then run the program. I : see the track and cars, hear the announcer and music. I push "enter" and : get the main menu, and use the cursor keys to move the yellow highlight. : When I push enter again, the highlight changes to white, and nothing more : happens, even for "exit". It's not totally hung, as the cursor keys still : move the cursor, which then goes back to yellow. But the only way out is : a reset (Ctrl-Alt-Del). I'm using standard (640x480) resolution. : Sierra software support said to check for two game ports. I pulled : out the sound card, as it has a game port. Found a solution, of sorts. Doing the opposite, I enabled BOTH game ports. !!! The thing started working! It isn't a full answer, but it's working. By copying over different .CFG files, I can switch between stick and keyboard control. -- -- Jim Van Nuland, San Jose (California) Astronomical Association
