For those that haven't read it yet, the RaceSimCentral review of the GTR
demo iat http://www.rscnet.org/index.php?page=ART_GTRPDEMO3 is excellent! It
was written by a hard core sim racer and a GT racing driver who has done the
real thing at SPA.
So, for the people who are complaining that the demo doesn't seem realistic,
have a read from those who know..

I always take real race drivers reviews with a grain of salt. Most are
so gaming limited, they just don't know what is good or not. Now many of
the younger guns in Nascar seem to be computer literate and they probably
can not only compare the sim to real racing, but understand a quality sim
from shite. I've seen drivers who can cooly flick a car around a course
with wild abandon then look like a Deer caught in the beam of headlights
when facing a computer sim.
I'm not knocking racing knowledge...just their computer comfort zone.

It's a two way street. I wish that many of the "sim" racers would
realize that just because they're fast on a sim, doesn't mean they'll be
fast in a car. Nor does it mean that they understand how a F1 car
drives and feels because they've spent a few hours behind the wheel of F1C.
I don't recognize the names of Karsten Borchers or Diego Sartori, but
it's nice to have feedback from real racers on a sim.

think I'm wrong.
I agree Dave, quoting unnamed drivers about the quality of a sim needs
to be taken with a grain of salt.

Why would you wish that?

The other way round seems to work a bit; I've had a professional
driver drive in Racer (on a motion platform) and he still has the best
time on a track, while the engineers around it had had quite a bit of
time trying to improve it. Best lap is 1.45.5, nearest sofar of the
engineers: 1.46.6.

F1 is too much G-force driven (pun unintended), so is a bit far off to
the feel of everyday driving. Still, having people drive sims helps
with their real-life driving. But it's a slightly different thing when
it comes to racing; their more senses are being used so talent in that
direction helps... (in other words, beating Schumacher on F1C doesn't
mean you're going to do equally well in real life, since there things
get more subtle).
But for general driving, it's ok to learn stuff in sims, IMHO. (as
long as it's in sim mode)

But Diego's friend is a professional racer (as mentioned in the review), and
quiet a hardcore simracer too. Diego had him over for a look on GTR, and he
was totally extatic.
Diego's and my expierience is purely from simracing (many many years now),
alltough Diego has worked as a mechanic on the Panoz LMP900, and 2 litre
touringcars.

We cant mention his name, but trust me, he is real and a very very skilled
racedriver, who has driven a lot of different racecars/series ;).

Why not? Will it violate some contract?

Now why would we make up something like that?
Why is it hard to believe that someone has a professional racedriver as a
close friend. They have friends too you know ;).
Even if we mentioned his name, it still wouldnt prove that we arent lying.
Oh well, believe what you want.

Never said anything about drivers/friends, where you got that, who knows.
But anytime I see the "This product is great, I and/or my friend, a pro in
x professions, says so. But I'm sorry, I can't tell you who that is " ,
gets the respect it deserves.
pffft. Either put your name on it, or don't bother mentioning it.
