Whenever I play ICR2 via modem, our carsets get mixed up. I'd really like to be able to drive my car that I painstakingly personalized. BUT HOW?! I figure that both of us will have to do modifications to our carsets, but do I have to change the drivers information file? Any help appreciated!

To make ICR2 work properly you need a car set specific to who you are racing, and who is answering. If you are answering, paint the 1st car to match your car and the 2nd to match your opponent's. If you are dialing, paint the 1st car to match your opponent's and the 2nd to match yours. Sounds like another utility is needs to be written. mykey

BUT HOW?! : Sounds like another utility is needs to be written. Maybe it will. I get sick of driving the other car myself. ;) The game has this function already. Just make a new directory with the car set that you drive and then another one with the car colors and drivers for those colors swapped, but everything else the same. Then choose the proper car set BEFORE dialing up. You can't change SQUAT once you're connected. I'd suggest calling the name the same as the modem partner. If you are calling "Bob" then make a carset called Bob with the proper colors and names to make it proper when connected. Then choose this Bob car set before connecting and it will work fine.

My reason for a utility is that using what comes with the program would mean you would need MANY car sets. Bob (when Bob is the host) Bob2 (when Bob is dialing) John (when John is the host) John2 (when John is dialing) etc. mykey

I mean, the car COLORS have to be swapped. Not just the names. Or am I wrong? I don't know of any utility that swaps car colors except for the PaintKit. Besides, I couldn't write one like that just to change one car around. WAY beyond my knowledge. Now the names are no problem, but colors.... forget about it from me. In my opinion, the modem "features" of ICR2 leave a LOT to be desired. I mean, no season over the modem? Why bother then!?! That's the whole point of racing over the modem. And not swapping cars for me automatically is not only a major oversite, it's just plain sloppy!! Uncalled for, even. I am also one hoping that MS CART Precision Racing is AWESOME!! Can't wait for that one.

By saying a utility was needed wasn't to say YOU needed to create it, actually it was something I added to my "to do" list. The project I'm currently working on will require that feature. How to make it work has already been determined. I guess a smaller version of what I was going to create could be used as a utility. The question I have is, of those people here who use ICR2, how many run the Dos version, Win version, and 3D version? I personally have both the Dos, and 3D version, not the Win version. mykey

Then I realized who : wrote above message... :) Thanks. Keep spreading the word!! :D

I use the Dos version exclusively. I'd use the 3D version, but I don't have a rendition card. Furthermore, I understand that the 3D version doesn't work properly in a modem game. As for the Win version - I just don't see the point of running native Dos games (slightly altered) from within Windows. -- Wolfgang Preiss \ E-mail copies of replies to this posting are welcome. wopr"at"stud.uni-sb.de \ There is no "2" in my real e-mail address. That restores my faith in Sim-players. I haven't noticed problems using ICR2-3D while running, but when I disconnect, and quit the program my computer freezes. mykey
While I haven't run Icr2 3d version a lot, I have not had any problem with modem racing with it. My brother has the dos version, I have the rendition version, and we can modem race without any troubles. DonB.
