If you remember the big buzz a year ago was how Villenuve won Spa by
practicing on GP2. Maybe he could have won this year if GP2 had wet
weather racing!!! Oh well, guess he'll have to wait for GP3 like the
rest of us. Will GP3 have wet weather?
> Villeneuve never did, and never will win at SPA
Your right about the first thing, but that he will
never win on SPA ??, Please check out why Williams
are left behind this year, and what to expect of the
1998 Car, then we see.. !!

Well seems like we hear plenty of F1 fans bad-mouthing JV lately. As far
as JV never winning at Spa is concerned, I wouldnt bet on that. Its not
the average man that can take pole at spa...I dont care if you do have
the best car (which clearly the Williams isnt this year) it takes some
skill to get around there. He would have won last year if not for a
botched pit stop strategy. Besides, to hear M Shumacher talk about JV
you dont exactly get the impression that he views him to be a complete
***er. He was afterall passed by Villeneuve on the outside of the
parabolic curve at Portugal. He seemed pretty impressed to me. Its only
JV's second year in F1 and he is doing pretty well in spite of the fact
that he has made mistakes and the fact that the Williams car has let him
down on more than one occasion.

You mean Schumy's tires. Once JVs team chose the right tires, JV was
able to set fast lap. And JV did qualify first.
Lately, I've seen some anti-JV stuff. Not sure why; Is it true that F1
fans have a tendency to kick their athletes in the teeth when they are
down? Fact is, JV is down. But I don't think he driving worse than he
was last year at this time, when seemingly everybody liked him.
I remember Schumy, the "Genius of the Wet", take himself out of the
race int he rain at Monaco last year- remember that one? At least JV
could blame somebody behind him for taking himself out, not the rain.
Point is, everybody has his lousy moments in the rain.
JV had a nearly as stupid moment in the rain last year at...
Argentina, wasn't it? Since then, I thought he's done OK in it. But in
Argentina, I think it was clearly a lack of experience; he was a
rookie in the F1 car then.
Anyway, Schumy is almost everything he is made out to be by his fans,
near godly. But JV is not as bad as people are bleating about here
and in RAF1. If anything, he is a lot smoother than Schumy; less
dramatic, less "opposite lock", but he gets the speed.
So did his Frenzen buddy. But where did he qual?
Why doesn't anyone talk about ferrari's anti-skid device? I think
that's at least part of the reason why MS is 5 seconds faster than
everybody on wet weather. Of course he's a great driver too.

Ahh they run the same brand of tire, it just Jacques and his team are too
dumb to make a decision
Pole? With the best car in the field, I can win the pole by a sec
NO look at Jeff Gordon. people making fun of him at Daytona and Bristol
And Mr. Excellent Jacques took himself out in France
You don't need opposite lock with the best car
Frentzen is the number 2 driver. HELLO, look at Irvine, how come he is so
far off Schumi's time

McLaren has it too (the device), but where are they? I would like to
*** about it too, but since it's not illegal (since his last
throttle-control disqualification disqualification in 94 MS wouldn't
try his luck again:), kudos to both teams of engineers/designers.
Seems Ferrari has the right package for the '97 title (unfortunately
IMHO): EDO2 engine, lighter chassis, throttle control, MS to drive,
Irvine as anti-Frentzen device ... :)
Yet imho this Shumi frenzy is good for the sport, a 'hypermediatized'
hero is always a good attraction for the casual race viewer. Hehe,
just thought of it: "The Schumachers - the Boyz Band of Formula 1!"
;)
To clarify my point, I don't want a guy who quietly drives with no
opposition to win. I want fights. Not crashes, but guys who overtake,
who push, keep setting their fastest laps chasing someone or running
away. This season I can cite about 10 drivers who are real racers,
compared to MS who now acts as a driver (albeit a very good one). OK,
I have watched the '97 season for free so far (yet unwillingly
invested a lot of nerves into the commercial breaks), but in october I
am back to France, and I want fights for my money. This is F1, not a
rallye.

Hey, whose saying that nobody likes Villeneuve?! Villeneuve is the best
and he will win the championship this year, mark my words.
crasher
Hi, hi, hi - good joke!
Axel
Yeah, but he hasnt won in style like Damon did, we all know that the
Williams is the best car, but Villenueuve is NOT the best driver, I would
rank him third or fourth, Behind Michael and Damon.

From what I understand, there won't be a GP3. At least not from
Microprose. They lost the FIA license from what I understand. Ubisoft is
releasing an F1 simulator next. Also, anyone tried the title "Power F1"?
I've seen it, but like GP2 so much, I've been skeptical to try it and waste
50$. Thanks.
