I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

Grand Prix is a good one! The racing footage is really good! But, for me
there is a little too much relationship stuff (love triangle and such).
A side note... I got the chance to meet with James Garner a few years back
and we got to chat about this movie. He is very fond of it! He was nice
enough to autograph my VHS box of the movie. Man, I was such a fan boy! <%)

"The Speed Merchants"!! Absolutely stunning documentary about a season of
racing.
See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278729/ for details!

Adding to those all ready mentioned:
- 'Winning' (Paul Newman et al.) Indy 500 ca. '69.
- 'The Green Hornet' (or somthing like that - Sportscar racing from the late
50's)
- 'Lime Rock Park - Secret valley of racing' An excellent documentary!
Personally - I love David vs. Goliath stuff like this:
http://members.rogers.com/aircooln/video/minirace.wmv
Amaroo Park - OZ. What a super track - shame they ruined that one - too..
:(

Does anyone know where else I can get this? Everytime I click that link, my
browser stops. The timer keeps working, but the movie never starts.
I'm using Opera.

9 Days in Summer is one of my favorites of all time. It is by Ford and
highlights Fords involvement with Lotus in the 67 F1 Season. This site also
has many other fabulous racing movies and memorabilia on every motorsport. I
have several great films from here and want many more. Be careful to only
purchase in NTSC format, although some DVDs play the European PAL format
also. http://www.dukevideo.com/products/4905.htm

He did a follow up called "The Racing Scene" that was a docu-drama of SCCA
club racing after the Grand Prix deal too...

Grand Prix for me too. The story is cheesy, but the racing
visuals ('66 or '67?) are fantastic. Alas, it still isn't
available on DVD.
From an entirely different perspective, I really enjoy Gumball
Rally :-)
I remember reading about this a while back. I have not seen it though.

This reminds me... while not a theatrical move, Lap Of The Gods Parts 1 and
2 are really great to watch. A must see for all of us race fanatics!
(Hmmm... note to self I must buy these 2 videos ;)

Oh come on Eldred. "Gumball Rally" has it all over "Canonball Run".
At least for realism and sensitivity of direction. ;o)

OMG! What a farce Stroker was...one of Burt's worst career decisions....
Six Pack wasn't bad...at least it's more bearable than Stroker...
See... - I knew there was something I forgot! :)
Another excellent film.

For those in Europe: Grand Prix will be aired on May 23rd by
german/french station "Arte". I'll be sitting near my linux-based VDR

burnt to DVD at full DVD quality (720x576). I guess it'll be in French
or German only, maybe english if we're lucky.
Let me know if you want a copy and I'll see what I can do. The TV
paper lists it at 161 minutes which would require two regular DVD's.

Has anyone ever heard of "The Racers" with Kirk Douglas?
Lotsa early 50's Monte Carlo footage, although not without the cheesy
storyline as always.
I wish they would have made a series of the legendary Goggles Pizano.

It has aired on SPEED in the last 18 months or so. Given that they're
starting to feature movies as part of the Autorotica series, I'd say it may
get another go.
As I remember, it was well-done and interesting to watch.

"Flklypa Grand Prix" for more information see
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073000/, atleast I thought it was the best
racing movie when I saw it in the cinema at the age of ten, when it was
released in 1975. :-)

Just a word of caution. If you purchase from Duke Video be sure to get the
NTSC (USA) format. Some DVD's are capable of playing PAL in the USA but
check first. Many of these films offer both formats.

A young hot-headed motorbike enthusiast inherits the prototype for an incredibly fast machine which was designed by his brother. He successfully gets the finance for it, and uses the bike to challenge for the world championship at Silverstone.
