T2 not recognized under DirectX5!? help needed!!

7 posts by 5 people · 28 Jul 1997 - 02 Aug 1997

I installed DX5 final, and it refuses to recognize that my T2 wheel (with or w/o the adaptor tried it both ways) is connected, although my MSSidewinder3D is recognized just fine and the wheel worked great under DX3a. I also followed the troubleshooting faq on the thrustmaster website with no luck. I'd appreciate any help with this problem thanks!! rms

Sounds like we can chalk another one up for MicroSoft in their attempt to corner the market for input devices by fixing things so that only MicroSoft hardware will work. Did this with Win95B. Looks like a ditto with DX5. Well at least we will have a standard. <g> -- **************************** Michael E. When I upgraded, DirectX5 carried over my existing calibration, which was for a Wingman Extreme, but it wouldn't let me add ANY new controllers. If I removed one and installed another one, it would only let me calibrate after I removed the setup for the first. And like you, I can't get it to recognize my T2 at all, adaptor or not. Luckily, all my driving games run under DOS. I even tried going back to DX3 by removing the Control Panel and reinstalling 3, but I can't get rid of 5. --

I am not sure this will help with DirectX5, but this may help many of us who are experiencing problems with our T1/T2/GP1 wheels in the Win95 environment. This is from Thrustmaster's Support page ([link lost in import] ThrustMaster has developed and made available an exciting new utility called the "ProPanel". The ProPanel is an alternative to the Windows 95 Control Panel and therefore is only useful to users calibrating their TM devices in Windows 95. We are primarily providing the ProPanel for our driving wheel customers, however the ProPanel will work with all of TM's *** devices. Here is the latest release of the ProPanel available for download at ThrustMaster's FTP site in Hillsboro, Oregon. -- **************************** Michael E. I had trouble with this also but If I can recall, when de-selecting the Rudders/Pedals box under settings, my T2 was recognized. You may also want to try the "old" way and just select the Custom controller, 2button, 2axis, Yes-racecar contr., ect... instead of either of the T2 selections. Good luck! Ron L. : Get Thrustmaster's ProPanel utility from their website or their FTP site. : It's GR8! It is a great utility, but it is actually more than that. Apparently Win95's joystick controllers have a "strict" and "narrow" tolerence for input ranges. Especially for the centering value. Thrustmaster's ProPanel fixes this problem.
