I just downshift to 3rd going into every turn and back up to 4th on every straight.

The way I do it, and the way most real Winston Cup drivers do, is to shift to fourth gear just as you hit the start/finish line. Downshift to third at the entry to turn one; you won't need to upshift to fourth again until you hit the start/finish line off of turn three. In the season I just completed, against 100% AI, damage on, realistic, I finished 8th in the first race, won the second race there. God Bless, Steve
