One thing that has not been talked about too much is the problems that
have come up with the save game feature. I have notified Charlie of
this problem and hopefully it will be corrected in the upcoming
fix-patch.
I run in a league that we would like to qualify on Thursday, then the
race results are due by Sunday. In N1 it was not problem. But several
problems have come up with the new save game feature in N2.
1) After qualifying, then saving the game, and then returning to the
saved game, you are put on the "race" screen. No Warmup is allowed.
This is not a big problem since you can go into a "test" session and
practice there. But if you want to run with cars on the track. You
must manually "save" the RACESAVE.BIN file before going into another
race to practice since saying "NO" to restore saved game will delete
the file.
2) Another problem is that race setups cannot be changed in a saved
game race. I am not talking about changing setups during a race, but I
am referring to changing setups after restoring a game that was saved
after qualifying.
So, if you qualify on Thursday, and you practice in test mode and
tweak your race setup, you are still stuck with race setup you had
when the game was saved.
Further research showed that setups are saved in the RACESAVE.BIN
file, so even changing the default setups before restoring the race
will not work. Setups are loaded from the RACESAVE.BIN file, so your
still stuck with the previous setup.
Charlie has said they are looking into this and hopefully it will be
corrected with the next patch release.
